It is really easy to get caught in the moment, and Boston has lost 3 of 4 at this moment. However, I think they are still the toast of the town as far as the NBA is concerned. As the teams are currently constituted, Boston is tops in my opinion.

As for my Knicks, all I can say is that they are much better than they were last year. Their problem is that they have too many bench players starting. Duhon and Lee are bona fide starters, but that is it. They need a quality stater at the 2, 4, and 5 position. Nate Robinson could be the 6th man and Harrington and Richardson could provide key minutes off of the bench. Right now I am hoping for 32 wins; that would be a dramatic improvement from last year.

Harrington is a legit starter at either the 3 or 4.

He can start if there are 4 other strong starters on the team. So far, I have seen no evidence that he could be a leader. He is too inconsistent and he gets too frustrated when things go poorly.

Well, being a leader and being a starter are 2 different things. He is a legit starter though.

Don't know how the Celts can still be ahead of the Lakers, especially after the Celts just dropped 3 out of 4. And then the Cavs lost last night as well. Lakers should be in 1st on that list.

And no, the Celts won't win 70.

These rankings were updated before yesterday's games, and they are made using a mathematical formula. I don't always agree with them, but I want to see how they shake out this year.

As much as I like the lofty status of my Hornets, I'm not at all convinced they should be in the top 10....yes, they are sporting a 19-9 record and a 1/2 game lead in the SW division, but they've gotten manhandled by the Lakers, Celts, and Magic...

Hopefully they wake up and start beating the "elite" teams as the season progresses.....

As a long time Lakers fan I hate to say it but this is another Celtic year. Nobody is going to beat them in a 7 game series. Cleveland will probably have the best chance because of Lebron.

Long-time Knicks fan since 1969. Right now, they're nothing but a bunch of backups, but at least we have folks in charge who know what they're doing. Wals will get us under the cap so we can get a couple of franchise players. That's the only way you become a legit perennial contender.

I heard Marbury wants to join the Celtics. As a Boston-hater, I welcome the move. He can wreck their chemistry like he's done everywhere he's been. biggrin

It's a win-win for the Celtics if they do sign him...one, they won't be responsible for his salary, so they'd be signing him for the league minimum...and two, if he comes in motivated and willing to play a supporting role on a definite championship contender (which he's never had the opportunity to do in his whole career), then they get an arguably premiere point guard to back up Rando....if he comes in like the cancer that he's more than shown that he is, then they cut him and they don't take a major hit on their salary cap...

either way, win-win....

Boston's loss puts them in danger of falling to number 4 soon! And OKC might end up out of the cellar!

What's going on here? Nobody seems invincible anymore, which I think is good for the league. Every teams needs somebody to keep them on their toes.

Nope. Won't ever happen again. No argument there. Players, teams, coaching, strategy, and competition are simply better than they were back then.
