The other night, it got down to about 3 degrees outside (this was around 10:00 pm). Parking lots and people's driveways got all icy. Then tonight, it starting raining, and I had a sheet of ice on my car. I had to warm my car up and turn my defroster on so that I could see out the back. The roads are very slippery right now, but it's supposed to get into the 40's tomorrow. Hopefully, it will melt all the ice away, because it is not real safe outside at the present time. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

The big bad wolf could easily blow our homes down. Given our relative weather the construction code allows for far less insulation. You can stand near my windows and feel the cold on an extreme night. Its bizarre here in that, you can drive 40 minutes to the beach and an hour the other way to snowy mountains. I love it.

Thats all just insane! It's the fun part about living in a city that can't cope with snow. Grown-ups get snow days too. It has been entertaining to see all of the things that can be used as sleds (my personal choice: Rubbermaid tote lid). "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? My house was built in 1911 or something like that. It has no central heating, and no insulation. It's colder inside than it is outside. I'm living on a 5" x 7" space heater. It does the trick. If it is any consolation, it has been very cold here, no snow, just cold and miserable. Ummm I live in Australia Its Summmer here right now...is that close enough to Mexico for ya Its 10.14 pm here and been dark for an hour, the temperature is a chilly 65 degrees with a rumour it could hit the 50s overnight. Our winters are fortunately not like yours, being a maritime nation, the 80s is as hot as it gets and the 30s the coldest. Snow last fell in Auckland in 1939 and 1854, both time sit was sleety and melted in nanoseconds. Our winters are mild, the coldest temperature was 35 (2c) and coldest high was a balmy 50 (10) and that was a clear day in August (Your February). Cold winter days are the ones that stall at 52 or 53 and have on and off showers with cold southerly winds with 40 degree wind chills. Yet warm days give us highs in the mid 60s and most days are 57 or 59 in the winter. I understand though Cali and Seattle are both having some very cold weather thats unusual for them. San Fran has had several days only reach the 40s, when usually it gets at least 50 every day, and sometimes 60 like Auckland. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Sounds like a great place to live! Being cold definitely sucks, but I'm used to it by now, having lived in the Midwest my whole life. I hope you manage to stay warm. It's supposed to get into the mid-60's today! Unreal, since just a few days ago, it was freezing here! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I did, sometimes I am actually envious that we never get snow here. People spend hundreds on trips to the skifields further south, and my hometown Christchurch got snow occaionally. Unlike America and Europe where life functions as normal when it snows (Unless its like a major 1 in 10 year blizzard or minus 40), in Christchurch everything would shut down and people would be told to stay indoors, and we would hear reports of farmers on the edge and lambs dying. The usual snow was like half an inch and the temperature always between 30 and 36. Hardly hardcore polaractic stuff. By the way it dipped to 55 overnight, but already by 10am its 75 again So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Ok, sadly, it is freezing again. Carrie was mocking my fellow California shoppers a bit ago for exclaiming their displeasure over the frigid conditions. Upon further investigation we find it is 50 degrees with a windchill factor of what must have been 44!
So cold in fact, She is preparing a pot of hot Chili and fresh hot cornbread!

I truly feel for u guys in the states, it seems unlivable in the winter except if you in the deep south (And even then I heard northern parts of New Orleans got snow) or Cali and maybe Oregon and Washington, but Seattle I see (On the weather underground site - its fantastic) has been having a lot of snow and its colder than average this year.
How do you cope with such extreme weather (I know even in Detroit its like 90 every day in July). Its actually been cool here so far, yesterday it only got to 69 and it was as cold as 52 this morning (And this is summer). The hottest was 79 on the 3rd and then a front came through and it dropped to 64 in 2 hours. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. but as for the weather, I spent the really shitty part of the winter (so far) in Puerto Rico, and I'm supposed to go to Kauai later this month!
the only serious run-in i've had with the cold was on New Year's Eve when i almost froze to death. i must remember that whiskey is not a proper substitute for a winter coat, even when you're trying to look fly.
