What is the world coming too? Isnt that a little warm for mid December there? (Meaning, isn't it usually a lot colder?) Actually, no. Normal temps now and in January have highs in the low 20's. But we get the extreme swings and cold snaps and such so it does get colder. It's gonna get windy and we'll be in the teens and single digits tonight with windchills below 0. They just said on the news we're expecting 3-6 INCHES of snow by 6pm today. Another inch and lots of blowing snow overnight. They will have blizzard conditions in the outer parts of the state. Today's our Xmas party. We may all get stuck at Anxy and Endo's for the weekend. |

It's too hot here. I've had the AC on for the past few days. Temps in the 70s.....I don't like that for this time of the year. "Very dangerous winter storm" is headed toward Seattle this weekend.
By CAROL SMITH SEATTLE P-I REPORTER Bracing. That's what the weather felt like, and that's what Seattle-area residents were doing Friday as forecasters predicted the worst is yet to come. The National Weather Service said a fierce snowstorm combined with high winds and possible freezing rain could cause widespread power outages and dump as much as a half-foot of snow in the Seattle area starting as early as Saturday afternoon. A rare blizzard warning also was issued for the Cascades and northern areas of the Olympic Peninsula. "This has the potential to be a notable and historical storm for some areas," said Brad Colman, chief meteorologist for the weather service in Seattle. Huge Winter Storm is headed toward Western Washington. By Linda Shaw and Seattle Times staff reporters With a stinging windstorm expected to slam into the Puget Sound area this afternoon, packing snow, freezing rain and gusts of up to 75 mph, utility officials were scrambling Friday to prepare crews to deal with the possibility of widespread power outages. "We do have a very dangerous winter storm that is headed toward Western Washington this weekend," said Brad Colman, chief Weather Service meteorologist in Seattle. Motorists were advised to avoid unnecessary travel around Western Washington as the storm, expected to continue into Sunday, could magnify and prolong hazardous conditions on area roads and highways. Temperatures were forecast to remain at or near the freezing mark until Monday. "This will be a major winter storm that will be life-threatening and disruptive to transportation and power for significant parts of Western Washington," Colman warned. Shoppers in Seattle can venture out until late in the afternoon, while residents in the Eastside and Cascade foothills should be prepared by midday, Colman said. Storm rolls in; 75 mph winds predicted. Those living in the Seattle area and west of Interstate 5 will get the brunt of the snow with 3-8 inches, while those east of the interstate face treacherous winds. By Jack Broom, Linda Shaw and Christine Willmsen Seattle Times staff reporters As predicted, snow began falling in the western portions of Washington and Oregon this morning, and was expected to pummel the Seattle area early this evening with up to 8 inches of snow, cold temperatures and high winds. The stinging windstorm was expected to be the worst to hit Western Washington in years — impacting the area even more than the Hanukkah Eve Wind Storm of 2006, said National Weather Service Chief Meteorologist Brad Colman. said. "It's life threatening," he said. "Don't take it casually."

I'm looking at 6 inches of snow on my railing, and it has been below freezing here for like a week or something. WTF? Seattle gets like this, very rarely, around February. What's this December blizzard bullshit?
It was cold in San Fran too. Fuck the weather! It's pretty though. I'm staying inside and baking today. Being trapped makes me feel domestic. "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? Do I look it up in a Fag-to-English dictionary?"

The view from my back deck:
Seattle is so badly unprepared for snow. Local indie media is calling it Snowpocalypse. It's pretty, but I want it to be over. "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? Do I look it up in a Fag-to-English dictionary?"

Yeah, we don't see this too much around here. It is mild here, no snow...no rain even for a few days which is a miracle. I wanted a white Christmas but it does not look likely.

Ex-Moderator | We've got as much snow as you, Melissa, and it's WAY colder, of course. But yeah, at least we are equipped to deal with it. We can drive in it where you can't and we have hundreds more snow plows and salting trucks and stuff. |

You have more equipment and fewer hills. That's a nice combination. It's really the hills that fuck us. But, since the city is basically shut down, people are going out and having sledding parties in the streets and stuff. Which is fun. "What's 'non-sequitur' mean?
