I would have liked to stay friends with my high school friends, but we grew apart. I think it was mainly because I went to college they didn't, They had kids pretty young and I didn't.
I also sensed they were jealous that I went off to college while they stayed home and took care of kids or did menial jobs. I valued education and was determined to get ahead and do better in life. ]I miss them but I don;t have anything in common with them now.

me too. I caught up with everyone at my 20th high school reunion, but still don't feel compelled to keep up with any of them I did have about 3 from college I would like to see more often, but they are all so busy

Yes, I have a couple of friends from church, one from 2nd grade elementary school, and two from high school. Even though I don't talk to any of them nearly as often as when we were children, and the dynamics of closeness and time may have changed the relationships, I still consider those friendships the ones that have stood the test of time. Once we get in touch, easy to just pick up from wherever we are in life and enjoy each others company, reminisce and all that good stuff. I've had those friendships between 23-29 years. We lived there for 10 years and after my parents divorced, she decided to moves us back to Cali I'm still mad at her for that decision "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them.
