Scarface

Use to love this as a kid. Gave it another watch. Its still great thanks to Pacino's brilliant performance, but things like "goodfella's" and "soprano's" have superseded it somewhat.

Its also uber 80's which I love (helped by Moroders score and "push it to the limit" music montage lol - oh how 80's movies rocked!).... Infact, my mate came around half way through and thought we was watching "flashdance" (he came in during the nightclub scene, not the chainsaw bit obviously LOL)

I also felt for Pacino abit when he refused to help blow up the car as the blokes wife and kids were it it. I forgot you have a tuny bit of sympathy for him. Well at least I did after that.

I had no idea it was a remake of a 1930's film. It also got a loose retelling of sorts with 1990's "new jack city".

Apparantly alot of the hiphop community like it. I sorta see why, and unfortunately, see them and real people around where I live, trying to act like Tony Montana in clubs etc.. Sad but true.

Anyway, its dated, its simple etc.., but its still good and as I said, still a great lead by Pacino.

Do you still like "new jack city"? Another childhood fav of mine I watched recently. Iam a massive fan of the whole newjack scene, so thats still cool, but whilst Snipes puts in a great perfomance, he didn't have the presense of Pacino. and Chris Rock's character, whilst entertaining, was kinda pointless to me aswell. Still a good movie though

Ice T's infamous "I wanna shoot you so bad, my dick's hard!" line never fails to unintentionally crack me up lol

What is it about short people and agresssion LOL. Couldn't imagine someone lanky or muscular playing the role. Even his small build seemed perfect for the role.

I have a 17yr old son, and every now and then when I tell him to do something and he doesn't want to (like wash the dishes) I walk around the house imitating the dinner scene when Pacino was like "Yeah.. I'm da bad guy....look at me... this is the best dressed bad guy chu eva gonna see... MAKE WAY FOR THE BAD GUY!"

Love that movie... I quote lines from that flick and talk like Scarface all the time. biggrin

Oh and a little FYI about that movie... when preparing for the role of Scareface, Pacino was told to look and sound just like Mr. Hector Lavoe... the original Cuban ganster.... Lawd that's a bad mofo right thurrr. Hector even did a cameo I believe.

I love this flick....it is dated...and the soundtrack is cheezy, but I'll watch it anytime I come across it...

...though I do find it hilarious that the majority of the "Cubans" in the movie were actually Italians (Pacino, Loggia, Mastrantonio)...the only actual Hispanic in a lead role was Stephen Bauer ("Manny") and his ahhk-cent SUCKED!!!
lol

Absolutely great movie. I've probably seen it 10 times or more. Al is at his best and the other actors are awesome too. I would say it's one of my fav top 10 movies of all time.

I love all of the above quotes, classics! My favorite that I do when my husband wants to talk about money is Elvira's "money, money, money, money money, money!"

One of my favorite scenes, when Tony and Elvira first meet and dance at the club, and Frank's friend calls him a "fuckin' peasant"
Tony to Elvira: "you got a look in your eyes, like you haven't been fucked in a year!"
