here's how it goes :

a) you give your name to Ocean
b) Ocean will send you an orgnote asking for your address
c) you give your address to Ocean, and if you want, a list of persons
you want as your SS and/or you want to be SS for.
d) Ocean does a great job matching the people that joined in
e) you buy or make a present for the person you are SS for. It need not
be expensive, you can also make something yourself.
f) you send it to the person.
g) you wait for your SS present to arrive.

again, it's not about what you give, it's about the giving. Try to be inspired
when you buy or make something.
