Ah, to each his own...

I like a lot of the movies mentioned; the Star Wars trilogy, The Matrix, LOTR, Donnie Darko, The Godfather, Goodfellas, Fight Club, Seven, Do the Right Thing, Shakespeare in Love, Blade Runner, Braveheart, and The Sixth Sense (M. Night's only good movie IMO) all come to mind.

OTOH, I have a strong dislike for Forrest Gump (the very definition of overrated) and I absolutely loathe Castaway (Wilson was the only thing remotely interesting).

I'm a big Coen-bros. fan and I watch everything they make. Let me state that I did like this movie, but I don't think it was as good as everybody was saying.....and not good enough for the Oscar!

I have never seen a movie have that much mass fun power. That was 1982. People were high walking out, this one guy grabbed my friend's shoulder and shouted "It could happen to you!"

I also love how the kids were realistic for 1982 middle schoolers, assholes (reaching out to touch the friend's mother's ass), cussing, cynical, riding bikes, playing D&D...
