Having garage sales sucks in my opinion. They are too much of a hassle. I donate everything to thrift shops in my area and Ebay the really expensive stuff. I'm giving a really nice, expensive coat to the coat drive for kids at my church. I know I could make some money off of it, but I feel compelled to just give it away. I would rather know that some poor, coat-less teen age girl is running around this winter in my old thick faux-fur lined, suede coat then have the $20-$30 I could get for it. I would just waste that $ on fast food or pizzas anyway. I love "fill a bag for X amount" its great isnt it? Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

Sell lemonaid as well. I know I get thirsty walking around and when you see lemonaid, sure it's the spot.

The deed is done. First of all, major kudos to my sign-placing ability. Even though my in-laws live on a secluded cul-de-sac, we were able to get people there via strategic sign placement.
The folks started showing up at 6:30 AM for an 8:00 opening, which really meant we opened at 6:30 AM. I did not go the box route - thanks for the advice. My idea would not have worked. Instead, I lined up about 25 containers of clothes along both side of the driveway and people went after it. We sold about 75% of the clothes, most of the furniture, almost none of the antiques, and the glassware was pretty much untouched. We made about $1,000 and my in-laws made about $1,100. It was not worth the work, but it's over. Yay! I'm *still* wiped out. Thanks for the great advice!

In my old neighborhood there was this guy who had yard sales almost every week. He would put these really cool handprinted flyers up all over the neighborhood, with the start time and in all caps: "WE SHOOT EARLY BIRDS." The Normal Whores Club
