Sweating=Good workout?

Everyday I go for a brisk 2 mile walk,but I don't break a sweat. If I don't sweat I don't feel like I have worked out long enough or that I really did'nt get that great of a workout. What do you think? Sweating=Good Workout?

eh. It depends on if you're a sweat-er or not. I don't sweat much no matter what. It's not to say I never do, but it's more about temperature and less about activity for me.
Other people gush sweat with the smallest bit of exertion.

I'd focus more on how elevated your heart rate is during and after your walk...also, if you walk with someone and can easily carry a conversation, then you should ramp up the intensity...sweating during a workout is an indicator of a good, intense workout, but it also is related to outside/indoor temp when you're working out...just as the lack of sweat can be an indicator of dehydration or over-work...it's all in how you feel...

I can easily carry on a conversation,so I guess I should bump it up to 3 miles intead of the 2,and it has been cold here lately so that is probably bringing down my body temp when I go for walks. hmmm thanks for the help! smile

Instead of walking longer, why not try faster

and even then if you don't sweat, its okay. Some people just don;t do it much (espcially when its cool outside) while other get sweaty just from standing up
If you will, so will I

This depends on the intensity of your workout. I have varying results of sweat depending on whether I''m taking a belly dancing class, or doing tai chi, or hi-impact aerobics or kickboxing. Sweating is intregal to the weight loss process, if that is what you were intending. Perspiring helps to kickstart the metabolism.

What I could reccommend is increasing the intensity of your workout, or, suppliment your current workout with a visit to a bathhouse or gym that offers sauna services. The added benefit or a good steam is that you release a LOT of toxins, and it improves the qulity of your skin temendously. Hope that helps cool

I think the fitter you are generally the more you sweat. Sweating is good, it means your body is working hard to get rid of any toxins. Had an interview yesterday to become a fitness instructor and he said he will be calling me back for a second interview! Fingers crossed biggrin When I first joined the gym I never used to sweat a great deal but 3 years later and much fitter I sweat loads!
