I really like their first two albums. Those are Classic.
Later with labour of love they went more pop ,i didn't particular like that. UB 40 is highly appreciated among reggea artists because with their labour of love projects they gave attention to the earliest reggea whose makers never got their attention. It is not my piece of cake but that put some of their albums in another light. And they are true artists . Something which cannot be said over M&M. | |

Someone mention reggae?
UB40's first few albums were NOT of the ilk of their later works. "Signing Off" "UB44" even "LittleBaggaRiddim" to some extent and then the outtakes from these 1980-1984 years were of the trendsetting, superb British sound they crafted. All live drums and walls of brass. No programmed stuff at this point. Better songs too, and no covers. Check it! They then dissolved into sequenced bass and rythyms, mostly covers and originals tat lacked any originality. Yes UB40 havn't been good since 1984 IMHO. -------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure if UB40 were ever really a relevant, important band. I can't stand them.
