My parents have had this plant for years now, and they won't listen to me when I tell them it needs to be transplanted and separated from the other plant. I at least wanted to know exactly what kind it is before it dies on them. It blooms pink/white floweres during the spring/summer. The flowers have fallen off, so I hope you can tell by just the leaves what it is.

Actually, it's the one with the big leaves in the front that I was trying to figure out. My parents have had it for about 2 years, and neither knows what it is.

they look spectacular, and relatively easy to keep - good light and regular light waterings.

I will get some devils ivy next time I'm at IKEA, they had plantlings there for about a dollar I love them trailing down from my bookcases.

Kinda looks like these waxed begonias, just wilder.

Looks like an African violet but the flowers are the wrong color. But it does look very familiar.

No, the leaves are not a waxy texture. It is more of a fuzzy feel to it (I think they call it gabborous or something like that.). The flowers are kind of bell shaped with pink on the edges.

They need lots of light, but direct sunlight will kill them. Filtered through a sheer curtain is good.

They need lots of water when you water them, but then you need to allow them to dry out a bit between waterings.

They like humidity, but don't wet the leaves. They're like African violets with those fuzzy leaves; wetting them can cause ugly blotches and mold.

That last pic looks like some of the leaves are getting direct sun and they're burning. But it also looks really leggy, meaning it might not be getting enough light all day. Lots of filtered or indirect light is what they like. More important than repotting is making sure you cut off all the unhealthy or damaged leaves and parts. The plant wastes so much energy trying to send energy to the struggling dying leaves, and the rest of the plant suffers. Cut those bad boys off and the plant's energy will be put to much better use, making the whole thing look bettter.

Question, I was looking up the propogation techniques of both the devil's ivy and gloxinia. Any suggestions?

you just clip some and put the stem part in a glass of water and depending on the plant, like i am propagating some imptiens (i hope they live in pots in my house over the winter), it was about a week and little roots sprout. Then you carefully poke a hole in the dirt and plant the clipping.
