Saturday Night Live

Haven't seen it yet this year, except for that Clinton/Palin sketch. Amy Poehler is leaving. sad But, Kristen Wiig is staying! jerkoff The way she disappears into a character makes me think she'd be awesome at, like, dirty, dirty roleplay in the bedroom! boff

Funny SNL anecdote: Tina Fey said (on Howard Stern) that Paris Hilton was a "piece of shit" lol and that the cast had a bet as to whether she'd ask anyone on the show a personal question. Apparently Seth Myers finally won when she said, "Is Maya Rudolph, like, Italian or something?".
falloff

But, of course, my all-time favorite Not Ready for Primetime Player is Norm MacDonald! Why you ask? I think this quote from Stern this past week will explain it:

You know those ads, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"? I was thinkin': it's a little, you know, misleading. I mean, it's not like you can, uh, kill a person and leave Las Vegas and, like, everything's cool, right?

What it really means is, basically, you go to Vegas, right?, fuck a prostitute and she won't tell your wife! ...Not like those gossipy, small-town whores where you come from! You know, like, they're sitting there at the, uh, beauty parlor and, "You're married to Hank Johnson?! Oh my God! I shit on his face last night!!! Small world!...

fallofffallofffallofffallofffalloff

Let's talk SNL! woot!

I figure I probably got at least another 50 years, or so. But I am looking forward to experiencing that fresh air on the way from my apartment to the furnace. razz

Hey, wasn't this thread supposed to be about SNL? Surely you've seen some of it in that backwater town where you live? I would assume you're up to the '79-'80 season there?

She's actually pretty impressive with that act. I haven't been amused by Saturday Night Live for some time. SNL and MadTV both have plummeted within terms of hilarity as a goal never being attainable for the casts that Lorne has chosen. Anna Faris hasn't been amusing to me since her role "Scary Movie".

As much as I liked Cheri, wasn't every one of her characters crosseyed, shouting, "Oh, yeah", while shaking her head like she'd just downed 3 espressos?

Well, Kristen's characters are nervous, shifty-eyed and obsessive-compulsive. So, there! razz

I've never seen MAD-TV.

What was your favourite SNL cast, Mr. Snobby-pants?

i think the last good cast, as in genuinely solidly good, was in the mid-90s. will farrell, molly shannon, cheri oteri, chris kattan, etc., etc. i think that was the last time the humor on SNL took big risks and won.

SNL now just makes me sad. i mean, seth meyers, head writer? really?

REALLY??? lol disbelief

poehler is good. she's not overwhelmingly funny but she has a quality that makes you comfortable with what she's doing, and she makes you WANT to laugh. SNL is going to be screwed when she's off the show.

Yeah, she'll create a big hole in the cast. Is Maya Rudolph still on?

Mid-90's cast was stellar. Solid. Remember when Jamie Foxx hosted?

No.

When you say, "mid-90s", do you mean The Norm Years? biggrin I'm bad with dates; I can't remember exactly when he was on.
