For awhile I would eat nothing but salads. Healthy, but also got old. I am currently on Weight Watchers. I like it cause you can eat anything you want, but it teaches you to make portions smaller, and to make healthy choices. You don't have to give up treats, just not have them everyday. I have lost 35lbs so far so yeah it's going good. Oh I forgot I also tried that Richard Simmons Deal-A-Meal. It was supposed to be like a card game,so you were supposed to see it as fun!. That got boring. No offense, but why do you need a program to teach you those things? It's not hard. Smaller portions should be easy enough. Instead of eating 8, you eat this 6. Healthy choices? Put down the bacon, pick up an apple. And go for a walk. There. I just gave you the Weightwatchers program. [Edited 9/28/08 0:30am] You're quite the arrogant little shit sometimes. That got boring. I had success with Weight Watchers too. I think the whole not wanting to exceed my points thing was motivation for me to pick healthier foods. Luckily, I had people around me that joined WW so I just used their tools and never had to pay for the program but a lot of people found their meetings to be helpful for them to stay on track. I'm glad that you're having success. I fell off the WW wagon years ago and am having a hard time getting back on. Shake it til ya make it

I'm an arrogant little shit for pointing out it shouldn't be necessary to pay a diet program to tell you what a portion is supposed to be, or what healthy food is? That's all stuff they teach in grade school. And if a person has missed it, most doctors clinics will give out copies of the American or Canadian Food Guide. So be it. Apparently I'm an arrogant little shit for suggesting a person save their money. Thanks. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

In the 90's I did Atkins. Works like hell, but is completely illogical for my lifestyle.
Turn of the decade, did South Beach..again too illogical because it's so restrictive. Now at age 37, I've settled comfortably into the Sonoma diet...it fits my lifestyle and cultural climate because it's essentially a standard mediterranean diet incorporating all food groups. I live by the North Sea, and I have authentic Italian, Greek, and Turkish markets on every corner in my neighborhood so my food is always fresh, tasty, and economical. I just stay away from refined sugar, flour, and white rice and stick to the whole food, whole grain stuff. I use my fresh herbs, olive oils, whole grains and whole pastas, fresh fruits and veggies at every meal and I have to say I eat very well. I also incorporate a lot of traditional Japanese cooking into my food repetoire, which is also heavy on fresh fish, tofu, veggies (and in old skool Japanese cooking) brown rice. Oddly I DID have a dream last night about going to a nice jewish deli and getting ahold of a pastrami sandwich with all the fixins (yeah that's right, extra cheese, sweet kraut, Russian dressing, and toasted on each side in a buttered skillet, and you can bt the next time I'm home I'll have a FEW ), but I believe that every once in a while those things won't kill you....as long as you don't eat them every day

The thing is, that diet was created for patients recoving from heart issues. In retrospect, there's no reason why a person in good health should try something so unbalanced. I did get back down to my college size of 0 with that diet though (and naturally I gained weight again when I stopped it). Still doesn't mean it's not a stupid eating plan than makes no sense whatsoever unless you just recovered from heart surgery. Any diet that has an entire product line of foods & pill supliments built around it so that you maintain its' magic results is not rational for me. Pity my dumb ass didn't know that at 27

I've been on the "starve yourself" diet. I've been on the "take laxatives and shit yourself thin" diet only because I thought sticking my finger down my throat was too barbaric. Right now I'm on the "eat 5-6 small meals" a day diet. I'm hoping to make it a lifestyle. So far it's been working but it's only been a week. This one is actually pretty smart. They do offer other benefits like group support and meal plan ideas that help alot of people get organized and loose weight, because some people just lack the discipline to just eat an apple. If they had it, they wouldn't be overweight If you will, so will I

Statuesqque said: no diets, I have made major changes in my eating habits.
That's a bit like how I feel my approach to food is. Although I'm firmly entrenched in the Sonoma Diet, it simply reflects standard food choices based on where I live (which is a jump away from the Mediterranean). I love Italian and Greek style foods and live pretty close to both countries, so the eating style that Dr.Gutterson put together based on the Californian Sonoma Valley style of cuisine fits in PERFECT with my life in central Europe. Now, instead of deep frying my catfish or slathering my salmon in honey barbecue sauce, I've learned to take advantage of the 50 cent fresh herbs avaialble at the farmer' s markets on my corner and season my fish THAT way. Instead of making mushroom soup with a heavy flour& whipping cream base, I just use assorted varieties of mushroom pureed in broth, with a little sherry and a splash of fresh farmer's cream. What I learned from her cookbooks in the end basically was how to utilize fantastic ingredients that are (luckily) readily available to me. I'm really thankful that I found her books, even for the recipes alone. My waistline is thankful, too

omgosh .. that "laxative diet" sounds awfully familiar to me...right now i'm on this 90 day "detox program" which is more like "mudd butt" diet. You shit like 4 to 5 times a day every day by drinking this "cleansing tea" and taking a "diet pill" twice a day every day. The worst part is right after you eat some fruit or vegetables your stomach starts to cramp up and yes this means you need to get to the bathroom and fast or you will shit yourself. I'm just about tired of feeling like i'm having diarrhea everyday. I've lost 11 pounds so far, but i've probably fucked that up by eating those dern fried plantains yesterday at the festival and having a cheeseburger. I couldn't help it, I hadn't had real food in months and I just was so hungry. But i've also tried Weight Watchers which didn't work for me at all, L.A. Weight Loss which I sucessfully lost 20 pounds without even exercising, but I gained it all back right after. I've tried the diet patch, which is bullshit anyway but I didn't even pay for that, and the "body makeover.com" diet that was just good as saying only eat a cube of chicken 3 times a day with a tablespoon of broccolli but drink two trashcans full of water. I didn't even last a week with that diet. I was thinking of trying the "50 million pound challenge" next since i've seen that it works for a lot of people. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
