People stealing from Salvation Army drop boxes

A few weeks ago my boyfriend (a2grafix) and I stopped by a Salvation Army drop box to take some old shoes there. (Revolution's thread reminded me of this) There was a man dropping off some things who said that a few minutes before there was a truck parked there and the owner was filling up the bed with items people had donated, but wouldn't fit in the box.
THEN...on Sunday I went back there to drop off some clothes and I saw a mini van full of people looking through things and they were picking them up and taking them. I went to my mom's house to pick her up and we drove by the Salvation Army again and there was ANOTHER car there (a new model Acura) and the woman driver was looking around at things like she was going to take them.
It really pissed me off. I went to the police station and they said they would send a car, but I don't know if they ever did. They acted like it was no big deal. This Salvation Army location has already been on a program called "Problem Solvers" on the local news because of the crime there, but nothing is being done about it.
What do you think?

Stealing from the needy is low on the rung...right there
with stealing from children.
There was a story on the news about a food bank where the
person in charge of the place was loading up HER and her
family's cabinets with the choice products, and everyone
else got the leftovers...what the hell is wrong with
these people??
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I see losers pulling shit like this every day. The funny thing is they don't even think twice about it. There's not even a hint of an inner voice telling them to even reconsider their actions, just steal it 'cuz the world owes me'.
The world owes us nothing but respect, and we've traded that in for a large chunk of fool's gold.

I saw that...it's horrible. I emailed the SE Michigan administrator of the Salvation Army. If I don't get any satisfaction from that the next step is to tell the media. Fox news would make a total circus out of it, but that's ok as long as something gets done about it.

You're right. One of the guys doing this looked right at me and there wasn't even a hint of shame. The expression on his face was somewhere between blank and 'I am I doing something wrong here?'
I got the same expression from a woman who was changing price tags at a Kmart store. I went there to get some cleaning supplies and I was standing right in front of her as she was changing tags on an item of clothing...she looked at me and then looked at my box of Swiffers and said 'Oh, what's that?' -- she was trying to distract me like I was a 3-year-old or something.
People continue to amaze me.

the SALVATION ARMY is one of the few TURE charaties
that you can see at work in the communities of the city.
no matter whut city you live in.
to steal from them is deplorable.
other charaties REDCROSS are the thieves.

I agree, the Salvation Army is a true charity! They helped out a friend of mine when her apartment building caught on fire and she lost everything. They set her up with vouchers to purchase new bedding, a dresser, etc..

That is horrible about people stealing from them. One day it will bite them in the ass.

I also drop off clothing items in the Salvation Army drop box for people in need and to hear about people stealing from those boxes now? Dang! that is just WRONG, they should NOT be stealing from these boxes! The authorities have got to clamp down on this mess.
