stay away from people with guns?

when you go to a shooting range, try standing BEHIND the glass instead of in front of it. that always helps me.

actually, i don't go to shooting ranges, which as carrie pointed out, is also very helpful.

Get a good bullet repellent, should be available in spray can or cream...

one other thing - my grandmother always swore by this one - fill up old panty hose with cedar chips and place them in problem spots around your home. my grandma always had homemade cedar chip sachets hidden around the house and she never got shot at.
