:grouphug: I know threads like this have been started before - and I don't want to bring anyone down - but if it can just make someone think a little...
Yesterday was a very sad day in the office. I went into work, to be summoned into a corner by my boss, to be told that, Chris, a guy who sat directly behind me, committed suicide on the weekend. He was 24 years of age. I am not sure why he did it or the motives behind it... all I know is that he was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet; always friendly, always cracking a joke and very down-to-earth. I moved to my office about a year ago and it wasn't the easiest experience, to be honest; after being so long in my last one, it was a very shaky experience. But if there was one person who always said 'Hi' in the corridor, it was Chris. Only last week he was talking about becoming a fireman; he had only just recently booked a holiday. The last time I saw him was on Friday night, when he left the office, and said "See you next week, guys". I waved... and didn't think any more of it. Coming into work and being told the news, and to sit there all day - with his things lying around an empty desk - was heartbreaking. I felt so desperately sorry for his friends, family and his team, who had to sit there all day and get through the day the best they could. It is just so tragic. The reason I've posted this is just a reminder to everyone out there that someone *does* care about you. We all go through tough times; some of us - me included - have hit rock bottom at some point in our lives and thought "Who gives a **** about me?'. At your lowest ebb, it sometimes feels like you have no-one to turn to; and that is the loneliest feeling. However, after yesterday, I am willing to bet that there IS someone out there who gives a damn. I hardly knew Chris but I was so upset by the news; I can hardly imagine how his family and friends feel. And I could see the pain etched on his team members' faces all day. It made me upset to think how vulnerable and alone Chris must have felt and I only wish - no matter what the motives were - that he realised just how much an impact it had. People really did care yesterday; and I only wish he could see it. Sorry if this is a bit depressing... that is not my intention... but to shine a light on everyone today. Hopefully you are all in good spirits and in good places in your lives. For those that are not... I can guarantee that someone, even if it is just on the Org, gives a damn about you. Wonders about you when you don't post very often. Wonders what you get up to. How you are feeling today. Someone does, I am sure. A BIG hug to you all.

i am positive if suicidal people could see through the fog to understand what impact their death would have that few would actually do it.

you are so right. thanks for posting this because someone always needs to hear this. It can get very dark and lonely sometimes and when we reach out into the darkness it's great to know that your hand is extended in friendship and love. thanks Alun. Alun!! I'm so wrecked by this news. I know I didn't know him but I'm an empath. I really do feel sad when others feel sad, if just a little.

Alun, unexpected death is one thing to deal with. Knowing the person had a hand in it is entirely another. I am sorry for any darkness that surrounds you right now and I know how you relate to such things. If you need any shoulders or any love, you have an abundance of both right here 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
