Apple customers recieve unlubricated anal sex

You may think I rant against Apple too much, with their overpriced status symbols, shitty motherboards, and fleecing of loyal customers. Well suck it.

The 1 Apple product I was cool with was the iPod, see, I even used Apple's stupid "lower case, upper case spelling".

I received my new iPod touch today. The sweet new next gen of iPods. Well, Apple intentionally shit on their customers by making nearly all previous car adapters and docks USELESS!

See Apple had this failed proprietary connection system called Firewire. It didn't catch on and has been abandoned. However, Apple still had the iPod get power from the firewire pins on the connector.

Now for the "next gen" iPods, they shut off the Firewire charging and moved it to the USB bus. Fine, but even Apple's own $300 speaker system uses Firewire to connect still!

So, on purpose, Apple has rendered even their own accessories useless. Enjoy your overpriced shit and PAY US MORE SUCKERS!

Fuck Apple. Fuck them right in their stupid asses without lube.

Save a few bucks and buy a G1 touch. That will work, but the brand new ones don't work.

If you can't find a G1 let me know, my Best Buy has G1 models left and I can hook you up.

The new Nano, Classic, and Touch are fucked.

The only real additions are a speaker, Nike +, and volume control on the case.

I just got a 2nd gen touch, basically for the Apple Remote app. which turns it into a wifi itunes remote. So now I don't have to switch on a monitor and use Front Row to listen to my music. It also has Airtunes control so I can switch on speaker zones throughout the house.

I can confirm that it charges just fine using the dock that came with my 3rd Gen ipod from 2003 (the ipod itself is long gone!)

The one thing I won't be doing with it is what it was originally designed to do - put music on it. It's just too big and I'd be scared of breaking it! For that I've got a Shuffle which is just perfect for me.

I would put money on that 2003 dock being a USB dock.

As I said the charging was switched to only USB, so the vast majority of speaker docks, including Apple's own iPod HiFi that charged through the Firewire pins on the connector no longer work.

rolleyes What are you talking about? Firewire isn't proprietary at all; it's a standard (IEEE 1394). It's superior to USB2 in a lot of ways, but it's a little more expensive. Apple added USB connectivity when it started selling PC versions of the iPod, but then it couldn't continue to justify USB and Firewire as iPod prices were lowered, so it dropped FW.

BTW, it's "receive."

He's confused. Both versions of the iPod Touch sync and charges through USB. So, your Monster cable won't work only if it's Firewire. Unless it's older than 5 years or so, it's probably USB.

The stories I hear...

My friend recently went through the ringer just to get an iPhone. There was some issue with getting an iPhone on a business acc't. He had multiple conversations with AT&T and Apple and couldn't get it straightened out. Meanwhile he got to wait in long lines. At one point he actually had Apple talking to AT&T and they still wouldn't give him an overpriced plan!

Just give me a damn phone! It reminds me of Steve Martin trying to order duck in LA Story. "You can't have zee duck!!"

You're right - I put the Touch in my bro's Bose Sounddock today and it came up as being incompatible for charging.

I am not in the least confused. Perhaps reading it from the Apple forums will help.

Again, no-one is talking about syncing through Firewire, it is a matter of many docks and speakers still using the pins mapped for firewire on the connector to charge iPods. The Touch 2G now takes charge only through the USB pins on the connector.

That doesn't disprove anything I said. The iPod Touch will charge unless the peripheral uses Firewire charging.
