I just worked all night.... And I'm tired.
Anyone else work nights? I work at night. I also go to school. It's tough sometimes. I do it because it's most flexible with my schedule and the pay is better. I work in a hospital. My morning started out with some delusions, paranoias, all sorts of bad moods.

What do you do? I teach people how to play the guitar for £20 an hour so if I work 20hrs a week Ive got a decent wage. My real passion though is going teaching kids with down syndrome to play that is the biggest buzz ever and I do that for free twice a week! LET A WOMAN BE A WOMAN AND A MAN BE A MAN

I've worked 3rd for like 10 years now. I don't hate my factory job, for some insane reason. I just have way too good of an attitude. I've met hundreds of people I love and find fascinating. Lots of good times. But the sleep thing is getting bad.
Watch for my thread: how do I break into the graphic arts/web design biz, so I can quit working nights?

I used to work all nighters at the Novi Hilton get off work at 7 am and classes started at 8 then I would go sleep for 2-4 hrs, date and go back to work I was 18 -19 then - seemed easy THEN -

I've only had about 3 hours of sleep in the last 32 hours. A bunch of stuff came up and I wasn't able to sleep much today. I bet I'll fall asleep when my kids go to bed at 8 tonight.

I got some really heavy, room darkening curtains so I can sleep easier during the day. The problem is that it makes it SO dark that when I wake up I'm disoriented. I wake up and think it's the next day or the middle of the night. Then I realize that I've only slept 3 hours.

No, I have never worked nights, nor could I ever. When I am tired, I am tired... and lately, I am done by 9:00 p.m. or definitely by 10:30 p.m.
I have never been a night person and I am not 'stressed out' to stay up late hours in the night. Loss of sleep gets more difficult as get older, unfortunately. Like my elders in my family say... "Never get old". Good luck.

Good luck. i work nights but i don't work overnight or 'graveyard' shifts. i tried that for a while and there is no way in creation i will ever do that again. my mind and body are simply not meant to be doing office work at 4am.

I work nights too, technically I suppose, when I should be off by 5:00 p.m. Some nights depending what I am in the middle of or having a late group night session... I get out around 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. Then I am pretty much (I just wanted a reason to use that) ~smile~ when I get home. Hi Chris.

I used to do overnights. It was my rookie year in radio. All on air talent get their start doing overnights. I worked from 12 mid to 6 am, and class from 8am to 12noon. It never failed, I would come home from work, shower, make a pot of coffee, get to class, and as soon as I sat down in a desk....
But doing overnight radio was cool. There was NO ONE in the building, the other stations were automated. I could get creative with shit on air. You got to talk to all the special folk that worked nights and or crackheads, you could screw up on air and your boss didn't hear it, and since I was a starving student, I would do my toiletry "shopping". Around 4 or 5 am was when I would get really tired, so I would grab a mail crate and hit all the bathrooms, took a couple rolls of toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, hot chocolate, tea. Man, I was class employee theft! I NEVER bought a pad of paper or pens or pencils then! Since the stations no longer had to be manually loaded, or needed me to actually press play for the songs, the computer ran it all, I would load up a 45 minute sweep and take them out! ha ha! Cheap fuckers.

I remember in Wendy Williams book, when she did overnights, she would go to the bathroom and do blow. She said she actually passed out in the bathroom during her shift. Now have I....well I did have friends come and keep me company while on the air. They would usually come back drunk from the bars or nightclubs. There were times when I would come from a party a little ripped myself and get on air too. I miss those guys...But that time and space is over. But yeah, I was blessed. I had a fucking BLAST in my twenties. You can really get "good" at your craft overnight. Not a lot of people hear you screw up. And it was fun.
