I believe he is there for the sole purpose of depressing mankind and interfering with our relationship to God. I think this concept of the Devil may be close to the Hindu concept of Maya, the cosmic illusion... or the Buddhist concept of Samsara, the wheel of birth and death. I think similar spiritual beliefs are interpreted differently by various religions. It's when we start anthropomorphizing God and Devil, that it gets a little goofy. That is, when they become comic book characters rather than universal concepts.

One of the flaws on this thread is thinking everyone who took part in that poll sees the Devil as a horned, red-skinned human with hoofs and a pointy tail.

I've got my beliefs and opinions on certain topics, but I can accept that others will not agree. I can even accept that I could be wrong. Yes, I do think Americans are overblowing their own problems. The economic crash is unfortunate, but you're still a top tier country. No, I don't think scrapbooking is art, but if you remember that thread, I went out of my way to say good things about it as well. Yes, even older people who refuse other genres of music are denying themselves. Those who don't care about music tend not to be the ones slotting themselves into one artist or era. But... you marginalized those who didn't share your opinion as either being a whiner, pathetic, fucking idiots or childish and dumb. And when did I ever call into question anyone's opinion? I never said you were wrong, dumb, a fucking idiot, or any other choice set of derogatory words for believing what you believe. All I criticized was the use of the "dumb" label. Yes, I do think Americans are overblowing their own problems. The economic crash is unfortunate, but you're still a top tier country. Again, there's no problem with you believing what you believe. The labels you assign to those who don't believe what you believe or don't share your outlook is what was the issue. Not here, though! I like a lot of minimalist music. The skeletal Seventeen Seconds by The Cure being one example where I think the economy of the notes and the sparse sound creates a fantastic feel. I don't understand why Americans don't have a better appreciation for geography, as a whole. I've just read that nearly a third couldn't point out Louisiana on a map after Hurricane Katrina came through! Not to mention that a majority couldn't point out Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel or Saudi Arabia. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018!
