Today's Stock Market Collapse is My Fault

The stock market is being brought down largely today by the collapse of Lehman Brothers, a 158 year old multi-billion dollar bank. The bank survived many economic downturns, including the Great Depression. What is could not survive was me. On Friday, I took the $70 I had in the stock market and purchased 20 shares of Lehman Brothers, feeling like it was on the brink of a comeback or at the very least some big fish would buy it. This was a double digit stock a couple of weeks ago. Instead, the company decided at midnight last night to declare bankruptcy. The stock is at 20 cents now. All because of me.

I am the vortex of mediocrity and doom.

Think I'm not bad luck?

My favorite NFL football team is the Dallas Cowboys, who have not won a playoff game since 1992.

South Carolina Gamecocks, my college team, over 100 years of football...they have won about the same number of games that they have lost...and no championships in the SEC since joining in 1992. And this with two Hall of Fame coaches (Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier).

And I became a Prince fan in 1985, which was the first year in his career where his popularity went on a downward slide.

I am the king of mediocrity.

Lehman closed at 21 cents...I can by a Big Mac with my stock portfolio. Can't afford a tank of gas though.

Seriously, I do feel really bad for those people who lost jobs or real actual cash money on the stock.

I expect to see many of them outside my house with pitchforks this evening.
