I guess we just have different definitions of "dirty" play.

I remember Madden talking about a similar hit. He said it's a legal hit, he just doesn't understand why. If you love football, it seems like you'd want to protect the players as well as possible so the level of competition is at it's best. Knees just aren't meant to be hit like that, and it sucks to have to lose great players for silly reasons like that.
If I was a player, I'd rather try to beat the Pats WITH Brady than to have people say "well, if Tom was healthy they wouldn't have won!"

It's like winning a golf tournament right now. Yes it's nice, but with no Tiger, it seems like a little less of an achievement.

Injuries are part of the game, but it would be nice to reduce them, too.

I totally disagree with that statement...QB's are over protected as it is right now. You can't touch them at all in the head area, you can't hit them when they are even close to out-of-bounds. Toughen up.
There is no way a 250lb who is going full speed is expected to stop when he's on a path to the QB. That's risking HIS injury.
The NFL has protected the QB so much, and I understand why, because of the revenue loss if your favorite QB is out, but injuries are part of the game.
Those guys from the 60's will all tell you...let 'em play football!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

It'll never happen. The NFL suits want scoring. Sh!t, DBs can't defend WRs like they used to back in the day.

I kind of agree, I have no problem with QB's getting hit hard, I'm referring only to that kind of hit to the side of a leg. It doesn't matter how tough you are, your knee is gonna snap--sort of like a face mask is a penalty, it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Accidents happen. Carson's may have been an accident but that hit yesterday was on purpose.

Not surprisingly, we disagree. It's clear as day to me the man tried to get to Brady to wrap up his left leg.

It's all good. I don't think it does the league any good 2 have it's best QB's on the sidelines because of dumb hits like this.

BTW, I don't think the hit was dirty at all. It reminded me a lot of the play that took out Carson Palmer in the playoffs against Pittsburgh a couple of years ago. You're on your knees, but still trying to get to the QB any way you can.

That was dirty play also.....but it's part of the game.

Hey watch it you talking about pittsburgh now. lol
Seriously the hit on carson was borderline but even carson palmer himself
said it wasn't a dirty play and some of the bengals who had played with
Kimo when he was a bengal stated kimo would never hit carson with the intent to injure him. Had it been joey porter who had done it maybe it would have been
a different story. The hit on brady yesterday was clean and it was determined to be a clean hit by the league. If the guy had went after brady's knee after the play was over it would have been a different story. What's done is done.

I guess so. U don't accidentally hit a player in the knee or the head.

Sure you do. He was on the ground and the running back was trying to hold him down. He sees Brady (still holding the ball) step up in the pocket and he tried to sack him. I don't believe for one second that he was trying to injure him. In fact, it's clear he's trying to wrap up his leg, but his helmet landing right on Brady's knee.
[Edited 9/8/08 14:32pm]

This is exactly how it happened. Clean play.

First of all you talking like a true Brady homer. Yes he is a great qb but he is a spoiled brat. Look at the games last year when calls went against his offense he could be seen yelling at the refs like he owns the damn football field. Remember after spygate came out, the coach and the players which includes brady made it a point to show everybody in the league up by running up the score on teams and talking trash about it. Then he had nothing to say when the giants handed him his ass in the super bowl. And he laughed when plaxico burress said they would win the game 21-17 and he felt he disrespected the mighty patriots by saying he predicted we would only score 17. Well he was half right because the patsies only got 14. Hell i'm not jealous of brady, i got big ben as my qb and he has a super bowl ring and he is sure to win another before it's all said and done. Oh and yes the league will go on this season without brady and it would have also if favre chose to stay retired.

I don't see the big deal with any team running up the score. What are you suppose to do, just sit back and not make plays? Whatever! Sorry if the other team sucks, not our fault!

Ahh it's too bad they couldn't run up the score in the super bowl. I guessed the patsies sucked in that game. Well i'm cured. They won't be running up the score this season and i can't wait until pittsburgh punches them in the mouth later on this season in foxboro.

Y'all are being a little harsh on Brett.Yeah, he handled this whole situation like a spoiled b!tch. Is he on the level of Montana, Marino or Elway? No, but he was a great player and future HOFamer.

They did suck in that game, and they got lucky with others last season winning by the skin on their teeth. They're gonna get punched in the face a lot this season, especially next week, it's going to be hard for me to watch!

I've never taken anything away from him and I've always loved me some Brett. After his great season last year he had no business retiring. My problem is with how he handled the retirement and his bitching and moaning over the Packers moving on without him. It's like his ass was actually offended that they dared to move forward without him. You can tell that he wants them to fail this season. That Rodgers kid was subjected to all kinds of bullshit from the Favre Faithful when none of this was his fault and he was just doing his job. And he handled it with poise and grace. I'm just glad he came out and did his thang and didn't lay an egg on Monday Night Football. That fool has an arm fo' yo' ass and I'll be rooting for the Packers in that division on GP alone. woot!

Brett shouldn't have retired in the first place, but he did it out of anger and frustration. He was crushed after losing to my G-Men in the NFC Championship. Only later did he realize his mistake.

Kudos to Aaron Rogers. He could've complained(and rightly so), but he kept his mouth shut and his head high during that whole Favre circus. He came through looking like a pro.
