Cancer warning for all you hippie mofos ;-) http://news.yahoo.com/sto...cancerrisk
Long-Term Exposure to Incense Raises Cancer Risk MONDAY, Aug. 25 (HealthDay News) -- Exposure to burning incense over long periods of time raises the risk of developing cancers of the upper respiratory tract, a new study shows. Interestingly, the practice did not increase the overall risk of lung cancer. "Given that our results are backed by numerous experimental studies showing that incense is a powerful producer of particulate matter and that incense smoke contains carcinogenic substances, I believe incense should be used with caution," said study author Dr. Jeppe Friborg, of the department of epidemiology research at Statens Serum Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. "That is, frequent use in rooms where people live should be minimized, or at least sufficient ventilation should be secured. In our study, we find the increased risk of cancer to be present in individuals reporting frequent use of incense for many years, thus, repeated exposure for years should probably be avoided." Others echoed the thought. "The American Lung Association is going to add it as a risk factor," said Dr. Norman Edelman, chief medical officer of the association. "It's not nearly the danger of smoking a pack a day for 20 years, but it's a danger."

3121 Incense increases the danger 10 fold cause you have to smell it. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

I'd be curious to know that, too. what do you think? they just had a thing about all those airfresheners and other household chemicals, bath soaps, detergents and how they are extremely carcinogenic. And how the manufacturers dont have to disclose what they put in them and what we are being exposed to when using them. i think its just common sense though. if it doesnt smell right, dont use it. alot of the bad stuff seem to have the same smell to me. they can say it mango, crisp linen, apple...but it really all smells the same. It makes my throat fee like its closing up. real incense probably isnt nowhere near as bad as the kind manufactured by chemical companies.

We have incense burning here daily in front of the spirit houses. I think I should be more worried about sunbathing. And comfrey leaf tea, which I believe may be carcinogenic (sp?), but it's all about weighing up the pros and cons for me. I want to live life on the edge and enjoy it! So, um, I'll continue to burn incense sticks, thanks.
