imo people got a few good artistic ideas up their sleeve, but only at a certain period in their lives. After that they need to help people younger than them laminate their artistic visions and quit trying to be the be all end all.

maybe the big studio honchos have decided to wrangle up all the most wrongminded movie ideas and place them all on the shoulders of michael bay, who then laps it up like a caffeinated golden retriever and pees one gigantic standardized stream of hot steaming sissydiddle all over the world's cineplexes. that way nobody else has to do it.

It'll be 1.5 hours of teens exploding in slow motion as Freddie stabs them.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Yeah, I'm not a huge Freddy fan, but I was pretty pissed when I found this out. At least keep Robert Englund in it. He's gonna be at Dragoncon this year, btw.

I don't see how these can get green lighted. Bay can't do an action sequence to save his life!

I suppose if Rob Zombie can remake Halloween...one can be allowed to touch classics like NOES and Friday the 13th.

I'm just bracing myself for the remake of Wizard of Oz.

Texas Chainsaw was not bad, although I do agree Friday the 13th and elm st should not be touched!! I might not see either cause!! I struggled with Halloween remake cause Michael Myers should not have been touched too!! Next they will be remaking Chucky!!

Actually, Robert Englund LOVES to mess with the media. He's told all sorts of magazines and what-not that his next project is Freddy vs. Jason vs. Michael Myers, and that Jamie Lee Curtis would co-star. Not only is that BS, it never was even considered by the studio. Fact is, Platinum Dunes, the company that Bay owns, hasn't even secured the rights to A Nightmare On Elm St. yet, though they are trying. Casting is nowhere near happening. Bay ISN'T directing this (nor is he directing Ft13. Marcus Nispel is in charge of that one). He is a producer on this one, but that is the extent of his involvement.

Last I heard, they wanted to go with someone younger, so they could show more of Freddy's days as the "Springwood Slasher" before his death, so that would pretty much rule out Billy Bob (although, he could certainly play Nancy's dad). Wes Craven and his son are reportedly working on a script, and actually like the idea of revisiting the story.

Oh, and as for Friday the 13th, it really isn't a true remake of the original at all. As I understand it, the whole story of the first film is told at the beginning as a sort of campfire tale, shown in flashbacks. The rest of the film is more in line with the tone of 2-4, with Jason hacking up horny teens who wander to near to Camp Crystal Lake. It's really more a way of restarting the series without having to have the baggage of things like Jason X and Jason Goes to Hell, which is just fine with me. There is no need for Jason turning into body swapping worms or cyborgs to be referenced.

That's why I stick largely to underground stuff or my 70's and 80's collection of stuff. There was stuff made for TV in the 70's ('The Initiation of Sarah', 'Summer Of Fear', 'Trilogy Of Terror' 'When Michael Calls')that was more imaginative and truly frightening then the majority of the crud thrown out today.

These new movies with newly added back stories mess the movie up,imo. I didn't like TCM:The Beginning or Rob's Halloween. I just like the idea of them just being purely psychotic for no reason at all. It's always an abusive relationship with some relative involved too that caused them to be the way they are.

Well, there isn't suppossed to be anything new added to Jason's backstory at all. They will flashback to the events referenced in the first couple of films, but that is it. No new motivations or insights will be revealed, they are just returning Jason to his roots as a freak who kills to avenge his mother.

Billy Bob Thornton playing Freddy better than Robert Englund?!? Yet right, I like to see that happen.

I have no problem with the idea of a new actor playing Jason for the remaking of Friday The 13th.
ONE CONDITION:

I want Glen "Kane" Jacobs to be the new Jason!
