I'm open for SURPRIZES anyway though - one never knows

I'm not into the Olympics or any sort of world sporting competitions. The one exception is the World Baseball Classic that started a few years ago. That's what the World Series should really be like.

I will watch the opening and the gymnastics because one of the Gymnasts is a regular at my favorite sushi bar. Maybe she's a swimmer, I never asked. Shawn Johnson?
I hate that China has used the opportunity to thumb their noses at the world over human rights and all of our leaders are there to suck them off. [Edited 8/9/08 9:59am] Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

It's starting, everybody! I love contagions! That shit with the drums is hot. They did the fool when the lights went out.
They sure do got some Chinese hotties in the army. The visual imagery and symbolism is AWESOME. Stunning! The girl from Guinea carrying the flag, Fatmata, was absolutely gorgeous. I've decided to focus on scopin' honeys during the parade of nations. The first one is Ronald Forbes a runner from the Cayman Islands. Good Lawd, that was a lovely thang. Ooooowwwwweeeee, it's a bunch o' cuties on the Jamaican team, DAMN! Boy, them Indians are sho nuf' cute. Bermuda in da house! Congo got some cuties on their team too. . . Yeah, I'll definitely be tuning in to the games. Fa sho! [Edited 8/8/08 19:07pm]

Personally I think differences should be put aside for such
an event as this...my feeling is this should be a stickie, but maybe that's just me.

I don't like the way China treats its people anymore than the next person. And I guess in some strange way I'm hoping that by putting China in the spotlight with the Olympics that it may give their government "food for thought".....a long stretch I know...but not impossible.

I'm not into debate myself, but I feel strongly that since we're there now, the games should go on without incident from anyone....again, just me...and before this ends up being P&R material, that's all I have to say

I am/was only interested in the opening/closing ceremonies because Cai Guo-Qiang is the creative director and he just had a really amazing retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The write up in the NY Times earlier today didn't mention anything about him. I want to read about it like I would read an art review.
I used to be more into the sports, but now I feel like they've been talking about it so long I'm sick of it before it starts.

Then, after watching the opening ceremonies with Muhammad Ali in '96 I decided there was NO way I was gonna miss the Olympics in the USA. So I got two of my homegirls to roll with me and we headed to the ATL a few days after the ceremonies. It was an awesome experience, despite the bombing.
Our junior year of undergrad, a girl I went to school with was on the USA softball team that won the gold medal in Atlanta. (Dani Tyler.)

I love the Olympic games. I can't wait for the events. I'm getting ready to watch the opening ceremonies right now.
What I really want to know is why I get so emotional during these things. I mean, I weep. Is it me or does the main stadium looks like a bed pan? I enjoyed the opening ceremony more than I expected. The drummers were quite amazing, the sparkling Olympic rings looked just beautiful and the lighting of the torch was definitely a winner. One of the best. http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related
