Props To The Dragon(No not Sisqo)- The Bruce Lee Thread

Any fans of this late Chinese martial arts icon in orgville?

Back in the 70's on Saturdays,me and my friends used to go the theaters and watch Bruce Lee movies. When the movie ended, we'd stay and see it again. Then afterward we'd try practicing Bruce moves on each other. Enter The Dragon is considered by many critics and fans alike as his best flick. But my favorite is The Chinese Connection. That movie was pure greatness.

Bruce had it all: style, charm, charisma, grace, facial expressions, great work ethnics and martial arts moves for days.

It is said that his family is under a curse(referring to the mysterious ways him and his son died).

He's a legend and you can still see the impact he is having in today's action flick and especially Jackie Chan flicks.

Now don't front...how many of you had a pair of those chinese slippers?...(LOL)

Hey brother! Without a doubt Bruce IS da man.The man changed the whole concept of action in film.Any film since then has been influenced by his choreography and filmmaking.
Intersting that you dig CHINESE CONNECTION.That's my least favorite of all of them.I Love them all for diffrent reasons:
THE BIG BOSS(aka as Fists Of Fury)-For the story and the raw feel. Also his best acting.Very James Dean.
THE WAY OF THE DRAGON(aka as Return Of The Dragon)-For the fight choreography and humor. The fight with Bob Wall ,in particular, has a certain resonance to it.Of course the fight with Chuck Norris set the standard.
ENTER THE DRAGON-awesome.And his only US production with his own voice(no dubbing). His character was SUPER COOL...and Jim Kelly??Nuff said.
GAME OF DEATH-this is the creme de la creme. Not Fully completed, but the fight footage is brilliant. The Nunchaku duel with Dan Inosanto, the fight with Kareem Abdul Jabbar-classic!By the way,if you want to see the full footage ,I recommend you get A WARRIOR"S JOURNEY.It's one of the best documentaries out there, and the last 40 mts shows the full footage of GAME OF DEATH edited the way Bruce intended according to his notes.
Later.
"Pam...that's just stupid."

Bruce Lee is godhead. In bopdy, spirit, mind and movies..All you ever need to do is think of him when he received those three scars across his chest in Enter before you begin to whoop somebodys ass, or if you have a presentation, etc...

My 7 yr old and i enjoy karate/kung foo movies...
He loves Jackie Chan, Jet Li, etc.
I knew i had to introduce him to Bruce, the master.
First i bought him "Dragon", the Bruce Lee movie, with
Jason Scott Lee. Very good, in my opinion. He was the
perfect actor to play that part.
Then came "Enter the Dragon"...now, he's a huge fan also.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

4LOVE

Bruce started it all.He did shit back then that still can't be done today. And was the first to show it ain't the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.His workout routine was legendary.I would kill to have his intensity for workouts.

Yeah Silentflute, I feel ya. I do think overall that Enter The Dragon is a better documentation of Bruce (because of the no doubting factor). I guess I just like the fight scenes in The Chinese Connection better. I think I'll check out Game Of Death. Been a while since I seen that one.

Bruce was, no doubt, a great pioneer. Without him, people like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Sonny Chiba, Sho Koshogi, Michelle Yeoh and Chow Yun Fat might never have crossed over to these shores.

As a kid, I was mesmerized by Bruce. His moves were incredible! I was also amazed at how toned his body was, without being bulky. To me, that is an incredible fitness acheivement.

People can go on and on about the Lee family "curse", or talk about conspiracies involved in the deaths of he and his son. To me, the legend of the Dragon so overwhelms all this, that it really isn't important. They may have killed the man, but they ensured his legacy would endure by doing so!

THE DRAGON LIVES!!!
