Same thing happened in Jamaica a while back. The man chopped the woman's hand off first, then her head. In front of kids. People even snapped photos with their cell phones. I'll find the story.....hang on.

I think most people are conditioned by horror movies and such to instinctively run like hell away from the "unstoppable" maniac killer with a knife. Probably only someone trained to kill or experienced in combat would have the instinct to intervene against someone wildly swinging and sinking a "rambo" style hunting knife.
