We're in the middle, so no sea, but we have 11,000 lakes in the state, plenty in the city of which many are all public land as well as Lake Superior a 2 hour drive away, which is the largest of the great lakes and the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area.

We've got a mountain, I think, way up in the tip of the state. We're really, really, flat. But we're gorgeous, nonetheless. hmph!

But it's really not that bad!

People fear it when they move here, but once you're here the rest of it is so great you get by. hmph!

And you can't beat the change of seasons. From hot, steamy summers, to cool crisp falls with leaves so gorgeous you could cry. OK, yeah winter sucks, but snow is always beautiful at least, and then spring comes and green returns and everyone comes outside again.

San Diego - hands down

The jobs pay less and the cost of living is higher but the weather is perfect year round. No hurricanes, ocean, mountains and mexico near by and it's a couple hours north to LA.

San Fransisco - 2nd

Cool weather year round but no snow, ocean, mountains, diversity in cultures and people and overall pretty progressive in it's collective thinking. It is expensive to live there and there's a ton of people.

I don't have a third as I think there's a handful of other cities that I'd like to live in and then there's Montana where I've always wanted to live for no apparent reason.

San Francisco is one of the only other cities in the US I'd consider living in.

Me too! I loved it out west. I have only been to Montana where it butts up to Yellow Stone. It was beautiful.
Not sure what you do during the winters though.

San Diego and San Fran are great from what I hear, as long as you don't mind having a high mortgage for the rest of your life. And LOVE traffic.

New Hamphshire!

"For the 4th year in a row, New Hampshire was voted The Most Liveable State in the USA for families, according to a press release from Morgan Quitno Press of Lawrence, Kansas.

For the past 17 years the publication has released its rankings of each state as to which is the best for raising a family and being able to feel safe at the same time in your home and community. New Hampshire has ranked well for its population per area, low crime statistics, high education standards and programs available to help families get into their own homes.

New Hampshire ranks lowest in the nation for the amount of people who live there with a 2006 figure of 1,314,895 living in just under 500,000 dwellings. The guide also says that The Granite State is very family friendly and elderly friendly with many programs offered by the state and local communities to help young families with child care and helping the elderly keep active. The publication judges each of the 50 states in over 550 categories from the most important issues residents have on their minds to the ones people would never even think about. Scott Morgan, President of Morgan Quitno Press said in a press release, "New Hampshire does an outstanding job in a number of quality of life areas. The state has the lowest crime and poverty rates in the country. In addition, the citizens of New Hampshire are employed, well educated and involved in their communities."

and we have an international speedway! (race track)

Just remember: I never post threads about "I want to kill myself cause of the snow" type of threads. Search inside yourself hun, and you'll know the answer.

I never said that! hmph!

This was a particularly bad winter, I'll admit. But sometimes you barely even notice it's winter here.
