LOL. The golden age of animation is no joke (as opposed to the golden age of hollywood in general which somewhat is)

It's a shame that they did not release the entire volume of Tom and Jerry on DVD. I love this show!

My favorite is the one where Jerry's Country SInging cousin comes to town and keeps breaking his guitar strings and plucking toms whiskers for replacements.

My Dad loves that one LOL. I never liked it much. The one where Tom comes home drunk and tired after a night with the lads is one of my favs.

I remember you liking those old Tom and Jerry's LOL.

Tom and Jerry is my ALL TIME favorite cartoon. I've loved this cartoon my whole life. I adore them. The older I get, the more I dig them.

I know this is uber geeky, but the music in those original Tom and Jerry's is cool. The composer was obviously a big fan of then contemporary black music, which was not common in anything Hollywood in those days (1940's/1950's). Those big ass orchestra's they always use. Alot "funkier" for lack of a better word then Disney cartoons for example. Those ancient Betty boops often had alot of jazzy music too. Again, rotoscoping legends like cab colloway LOL.

To me, music is always important in films and even in cartoons, and Tom and Jerry had the best music LOL

lol

I grew up on these. My Dad use to tape them off the tv for me and my older siblings, but I know he use to dig them too LOL. He'd say "these are the classics, not your (then popular) thundercats, ninja turtles, care bears crap" etc.. LOL.

He was right. Alot of tv cartoons have dated badly, but those old cartoons, for the most part, have not.
