Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite stories ever, and adding Depp to it should just be... "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Moderator | Is it the same movie as this?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0466663/ Or are there 2 new Alice in Wonderland movies? In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I thought he was subtle and touching in What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, and I'd like to see him do a few roles again in that vein.
I love him in Gilbert Grape (though DiCaprio pretty much stole that movie), Secret Window and he was really sweet and touching in Finding Neverland. He's more versatile than the roles he tends to migrate to. I do have to say, I thought he was brilliant in the first Pirates movie, but I didn't feel it was a role that needed to be revisited, much less twice. But really - does it get any better than his debut screen role? Ha! I knew you'd be the one to mention Freddy. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

When Craven directed New Nightmare, he wanted to ask him to make a cameo in it, but by that time (1994) Depp was an established Hollywood star. He assumed Depp would turn his nose up at it. When Depp found out - after the film had been released - he said he gladly would have made the cameo if he'd known.

I'm fucking giddy about the whole project!
I won't lie, I do have a soft spot for the original Disney rendition, but like so many stories over the years, the Disneyfication of Alice did the whole mood and theme of the story a disservice. They're just not capable of the weirdness and darkness Wonderland deserves. I trust Burton'll do a good job, given how he improved on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. (Nostalgia alone is not reason enough to call the old movie better than the new. Roald Dahl hated it. Shouldn't that tell you something about how well it was done?) As for Depp and Burton, who wants to send out the wedding invitations? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Ooooh, Johnny Depp plays another fucking idiot. He's been quirky long enough. Fuck all that. Let him make a fucking blockbuster in which he does't have to do all that Michael Jackson stuff. My thoughts exactly. Same old thing, over and over and over. They really should've had him in 'Cat In The Hat' too. Hell, why not cast him as the Joker.

You haven't been in the best of moods lately, no? I am actually quite well, thanks. This is what we like to call 'vocal'. The fact I do not agree with you and that i suse the word 'fucking' alot does not mean I am in a foul mood.

I hope this is a more darker take on the whole Alice in Wonderland. I don't really dig kids movies anymore. And Johnny does really need to stop doing silly roles like these...at least for a few years. The last "normal" role I saw him in was Once Upon a Time in Mexico...and even in that he still has all his quirky traits from Pirates etc Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antenna. Do you read me Lieutenant Bowie, I said do you read me...Lieutenant Bowie

are people really annoyed that Johnny Depp played quirky, weird characters?
IDK, in my world thats a good thing. Shows he's got range and is a good character actor, not just a pretty face. I love that he takes mostly unconventional parts If you will, so will I

I actually think he would make the perfect replacement for Heath as the joker, lookswise and acting wise. Immediately I thought of Johnny when I thought of a replacement.
