If anything, it would make him less of an anomaly. Men and women in "power" cheat all the time, not that it isn't common for less influential men and women, either.

Well, just looking at this upcoming election and people talking about candidates "moral code" and who they associate with and what kind of pastor they have, I doubt cheating would be accepted

it's pretty well known that john mccain has cheated on his wife in the past. I even think it's mentioned in his wikipedia entry.

Cheating's gone on. McCain cheated, and there have been stories in various news outlets about it. He's still going to get the GOP nomination.

Adultery is one thing. Unconventional marriages are something entirely different. Ask Obama's predecessor.

Its hardly a great advert for marriage, that is assuming you believe marriage means monogamy (which most people do, apart form the ones who have .."modern" marriages). Personally I dont see the point of these two being married and not just co-habiting. But lets say they are redefining what marriage is/can be, or something like that.

i disagree. look at that picture. you can just TELL by the looks on their faces they can't wait to leave that hollywood event so they can go to some smokey cafe and discuss Proust and the essence of being until 5am. okay, well, tom cruise might chime in with some sylvia plath readings, but when i look at their faces i see PROUST, PROUST, PROUST. and a little sylvia.

I dont think this "open" marriage thing is right and Im not apologizing for it.I dont believe that that is a marriage.I dont care if they give eachother permission or whatever...its still adultery and their kids are a part of their marriage also.Would will be okay if his daughter Willow got into a "marriage" like this one?And what happens if during sex somebody catches feelings...or gets pregnant???They shouldnt risk so many things just for some pleasure with someone else than your husband or wife. And it is natural to be attracted to someone else but never is it a neccessity to sleep with them. rolleyes
Ive shared my opionion ono other boards and people said I dont have an "open" mind.I have an open mind but I also have certain morals and standards in my life that I refuse 2 change.Im kind of sad 2 b/c I looked up to their marriage being a young African American woman. neutral

Respectfully: even if I disagreed with these people's personal, private lives, there's no way I'd give this much of a shit. Frankly, there are bigger and better things over which to lose sleep, no?

I understand that but Ive always looked up to them.Thats why Im putting so much "energy" into my post.

i think those are fantastic ideals and standards. for YOU.

i think it's great that you are resolute in your values, but maybe other people are resolute in other ways of thinking and living as well, and as long as they're taking personal responsibility for the way they live and they're not hurting other people, i think it's just common respect to say "to each their own" and let people be without throwing judgment into the ring. there's already too much judgment getting thrown around in the world and too many people living in glass houses in the first place. i admire them for being honest with each other, and for taking on a public role as a celebrity couple with a successful non-traditional marriage. even if i thought their marriage was a bunch of crap, it doesn't effect me, so i'm not even gonna bother mixing my karma and bad energy into the lives of people i don't even know. ya know?
I just find her post hilarious considering Prince's history with the ladies. lol

But that glass house thing works, too. lol

What does Prince have to do with any of this?Im mean seriously...when have I EVER said I looked up to his marriages.Prince is my favorite ARTIST.And I still love Will and Jada's work.I just came back from Hancock. It has absoultely nothing to do with their WORK...or Prince rolleyes

its ridiculous.
I stated my opinion and posed realistic questions that should come up when approaching the topic of an "open marriage".And then I love the people who have the nerve to tell me its my opinion like I didnt know...that was the whole point of me including "I think" infront of it.And Im still waitin on what the hell Prince has to do with any of this?Okay...Prince is a cheater we all know this and??? nod Agreed. I was confused as well as to how your post was singled out when all you did was express your point of view and I didn't think you sounded anymore heated than everybody who said "if it works for them, cool." shrug Nothing wrong with a divergent opinion. cool
