I have thought about doing that because at this point in my life I have no plans to have any more kids and I am getting older.

But who knows if I will eventually change my mind...so...

I understand

I had my 2

and in the past was raped that got me pregnant ... blahblah

I was over and done 100% with conceiving nod And wanted to make sure it would not happen again

Oh for fucks sake.

Can't there just be a pill that I take once with no side effects at all?? mad

some people get side effects, some don't at all- it also depends on the different types of pills. try asking your doctor for a low-dose hormone one, like yaz or tri-cyclen lo. they're just as effective but you're less likely to have side effects on them. i didn't have any, i actually lost weight while on the pill! lol

Ugh! I find this all so confusing! I feel too old to be having to deal with all this now. lol

Actually, funny you mention this. The person I see the most right now has had a vasectomy...but it's not a permanent situation with him, plus I have someone else that I sometimes see...so I really think I need to get on this.

You always hear on the commericals that taking the pill increases the risk of stroke. Has anybody ever heard of a women having a stroke shortly after switching to the pill?

Heard of it but don't know much about it.

Why not the patch?

Years ago, I used the Norplant, no side effects for me, but obviously others had big issues with them, since they're off the market. To this day I sometimes subconsciously feel my arm for them, even after this long time. They were great. There's suppose to be something similar come on the market.

lol

the easiest thing is to go into your doctor, lay out your likes/dislikes (like you want to minimize side effects, probably don't want to take a pill everyday, etc), and see what he/she recommends. nod

Why be on hormonal birth control all the time when you are only fertile a few days every month?

The artificial hormones in birth control are terrible for you.

This book...

...is great. It helped me get off the Pill after being on it for 20 years.

Once you really know how your body works and what to look for in terms of fertility signals, you will be astounded that any woman in her right mind would abuse her body with the chemical birth control.

But knowing what this book teaches puts you in control. Women have been sold a bill of goods with the Pill (and other hormonal birth control). Doctors and pharmaceutical companies try to convince you that chemical birth control is really the only effective option - which just isn't true.

There is a huge chunk of every month when women aren't fertile, at all - and may play any way (and as often) as they like. There's really only about a week (or less) when potential pregnancy is an issue.

Interesting. I need to learn about all this. I'm a little weirded out by the thought of following some kind of schedule though.

Actually, to be honest the reason why I am thinking about this a lot lately is because a couple of coworkers of mine are going through birth control nightmares. It reminds me that I need to be way more careful myself but it makes me very nervous to try anything after seeing what they are going through.
