im going to try going on a wheat/gluten free diet and see how i feel and cutting out fish and going vegan 4 a week

with advice on that type of diet.

i do not eat meat or chicken, rarely eat fish ( once a month when i have sushi) but am cutting that out 4 goooood.

my problem is chocolate, i tried to give that up but lasted 2 weeks could not do it and bread especially if it is a baguette ( french stick)

do not drink sodas at all, no coffee, drink water and ayurvedic tea.

loooove eating red capsicum yummmmmy, and stir frys r yumo.

and sweet potato ( rarely have it bout 6 times a yr)

once I move out on my own this won't be a problem as i don't buy things that rn't healthy, choc, cakes etc etc.

anyways after all that, can someone talk about their feelings on a vegan/wheat free diet.

love M

if you are allergic to it mad and I think quite a lot of people are without even realising it.
If you are totally intolerant, your intestines are inflamed and unable to absorb nutrients from the food you eat sad very bad
I guess you could have an allergy to it and just feel like crap all the time without knowing why.
I had a gastroscopy and a duodenum sample taken which showed my gut wasn't quite right, but cutting out gluten did not change my symptoms. I think mine are from lactose mad

I can tell you that you'll probably feel great for awhile - because any kind of serious dietary restriction (which veganism is) makes your body pump out adrenaline like there's no tomorrow. (That's why strict diets make you feel so good, energetic and bouncy in the near term...and normal or even terrible when the adrenaline "high" wears off.)

Chocolate cravings can be a sign of magnesium deficiency.

What will you do to make sure you get adequate protein without animal products of any kind...and how will you get the essential nutrients that can only be gotten from animal foods (like vitamin B-12, and vitamins A and D)?

Veganism is fine if that's what you want to do...but you need to be prepared going in.

buy some good quality dark chocolate or choc with a high cocoa percentage, like green & blacks. it will satisfy cravings and you don't need to eat as much.
also, you can get gluten free chocolate bars.

i was a veggie for about 17 yrs, but in the last year i have just started to look at food for what it is. i cut wheat & dairy down, but not out. i have begun to eat a little chicken & beef. i am still selective about what i eat, but i feel more balanced now.

as far as i know 1/2 cup of dried beans is equal to one serving of protein.

That's something I really can't help you with, I'm afraid. I'm a carnivore - and will never give up meat. It's good for you. shrug

I was reading a book not too long ago called The Natural Hormone Makeover. In it, the author (an endocrinologist who used to be a vegetarian) was studying Chinese medicine (in China). She told how a practitioner she went to told her she needed to consume at least a small amount of meat to be healthy. She explained that she was a vegetarian...and the health practitioner told her, "Meat is not food. It is medicine."

The fact that certain vital nutrients are only contained in animal-derived foods tells me I need to eat those foods.

Everyone makes their own choices, of course. I just know what's right for me. cool

good luck with it.
just don't deprive yourself of anything. you should have a little of what you are craving, it is really hard to stick 100% on a diet like this. i did it for a month, completly cutting things out and i was constantly thinking about food, as in what can i eat for my next meal. very time consuming.

though to do a true gluten free test, you can't have ANY

* cut it out of the diet totally 6 weeks
* bring it back in for 6 weeks
* then cut it out again for 6 weeks

Keep a food diary and describe how you feel/symptoms etc
even the littlest trace of gluten will prevent a sensitive gut from healing completely and a full recovery taking place.

absolutely, if you think that you have a serious problem, def cut out in total and gradually re-introduce.

Okay...this is what I meant about making sure you get adequate protein. There's very little protein (and frankly, very little of nutritive value) in any of that.

or calcium, or nutrients. the key is balance. aim for 2/3 servings of protein a day the same with calcium, veg & fruit. take some flax seed oil (or similar) and a spoon or two of pumkin/ sesame seeds.
eat little & often, but balance it out.
