Any american sport. Especially the ones where they claim to be world champions...

I "get" (understand) all sports, although there are very few I actually take time to watch, and even then it's rarely. But I have extreme respect for athletes and their sports nod...you can see some amazing displays of just what the human body is capable of if you train it right and "program" it to perform these feats over and over again without fail. In that regard, sometimes sports can be like competitive ballet lol...

Wonder why you posted if that's the case! biggrin i agree though, its not about being more macho. Its just a recognition of what the sport is. Rugby is game where courage is a must, since 20 stone blokes hit you a lot whilst you're not wearing armour. Us football is more about strategy than testicular fortitude. I only posted the "rubgy for girls" comment becuase all you americans seriously seem to think that Us football is a "tough guy" game. Its not. thats all...

I dunno...guys have been paralyzed from that same non-tough guy game...and a wide receiver going over the middle who gets abso-freakin-lutely pulverized by some free safety leading with his helmet might argue the point as well lol nod...

But I think all contact sports require toughness, stamina, strategy, athleticism...all those fun things lol. Like I said, I admire all athletes and their sports, from all over the world. I'm not much into the machismo atmosphere of the American sports fan world, but I definitely appreciate what these guys and women can do. nod

But its all set up to minimise that. The reason americans think it so tough is they dont play any of the world's truly tough sports.
Lets not pretend that gridiron is anything other than a strategy game with the occasional injury (Imagine being that guy over the middle wearing just your shorts!). Don't get me wrong, I prefer strategy and skill over brute strength any day of the week...

I would have more respect for Gridiron if they didn't wear all their "protective" gear. If there were truly hardcore they wouldn't need no shoulder pads, helmets etc. To draw comparison to any form of Rugby they don't wear anything like that, some may wear very minimalistic headgear but no chunky ass helmets.

If they were to get rid of all that shit from Gridiron then you would REALLY see how "hardcore" they are razz

Anyway Tennis, Cycling, Rowing (if you can call that popular) and all that really make no sense to me.

But something like WWE Wrestling, yes its classified as "Sports Entertainment" and yes I do know its all staged etc. They build storylines to give reason as to why people fight each other, its not like the MMA stuff where people just fight, they put emotion into each battle...or at least try to lol Also if you were to get two average Joes and put them in the ring and tell them to do a quarter of what the Pros do it would be very shoddy. So you have to give them credit for being able to pull off all the stuff they do even if they don't really hurt themselves a great deal from most things
Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antenna. Do you read me Lieutenant Bowie, I said do you read me...Lieutenant Bowie

I'm quite a big fan of sports that have a lot of action. As such, I'm not so big on baseball, cricket, and especially golf.

rolleyes Minimizing the risk of personal injury does not make a sport any less tough. I've watched a lot of rugby here in Australia, and while I don't really understand all the rules, I do enjoy it. That said, the athletes rarely (if ever) reach the same speed as those who play American football, because the contact is fairly continuous. It would be barbaric to play American football without protective gear.
