Crossroads: How do you deal with adversity in your life and career?

Whats up ya'll haven't been here a lot lately as I am dealing with adversity/life/and career crossroads? At first I was angered and sad and what not, but I started dealing with things one step at a time and all though I am still climbing a slippery slope, I feel like progress is being made and God has put a bunch of obstacles and walls in my life to see how I react. As a result, I have learned a lot more about myself and who really loves and supports me, and its a beautiful thing. I'm really learning to rely upon my faith, family, true friends, and my own internal fortitude right now. If i show enough patience and consistency I know I will eventually reap fruitful divedends as I walk through this long shadow filled valley. Although I hate the darkness, I think its what I needed to find out what kind of man I am. So my quetion to you is how do you deal with adversity in your life and career?

Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

Don't Talk About It, Be About It!

It's frustrating, but it sometimes takes a terrible situation for us to really find out what we're made of. I have learned this lesson over and over again in my life. I've been through many really scary and painful situations and at first I'm usually terrified. Once the initial shock wears off (and after I've cried my eyes out) I put on my big girl pants and do what I need to do.

I just recently got divorced and my ex tried to sue me for custody of our kids. That was THE most stressful thing I've ever gone through. I really was a nervous wreck for the months leading up to the trial and am still recovering from it now.

Even though at the time it seemed an impossible and horrible thing it has taught me a lot about myself and taught me who really loved me. I mean TRULY loved me. I learned that some people I thought were friends and family were really not after all. It was, and still is, very painful. It is getting a little easier each day.

All the best to you.

"My big girl pants...." spit falloff That always cracks me up....

Adversity seems to be all I know...nothing in my life seems to go easily...it either takes TONS of work or compromises on my part...

My career too has had it's moments....

I have slowly become sort of philosophical about it...I take the punches as they come....and hopefully when the dust settles I will still be standing....I believe in destiny and I believe good things are meant to happen in my life...as long as I believe...I know I can make it through anything...

hug Right there with ya.

I'm incredibly honest with God, myself and my loved ones. The mask is down. I let 'em know exactly where I am, how I'm feeling and who's ticking me off. I also know that God's wrath toward those who mess with His kids is no small thing. So, I try to remember (though, it's difficult) to pray for my enemies.

A lot of prayer. And, I try to give Him efforts to bless. So, I try to move in the direction He wants me to go.

Thanks for posting your experience, I so admire your candidness and honesty.

I've been going through some things that has forced me to take a step back and examine my life and put things in perspective.
So far, the answers are not clear and it's not easy trying to decipher whatever answers lay in those lessons.

What's funny though, is how just today I was thinking and feeling a bit good about myself saying that no matter what happens in my life,
I know that I'm honestly trying to do what's right and whatever decisions I make, I'm making it for the right reasons, not selfish reasons.

Hugs to you hug

Try & stay positive! There is always a positive side to averything that happens in life. There's an old Italian saying "Where there is life. there is hope!"
