I agree, soap sucks!! I wash my body with a syndet (synthetic detergent) because I have sensitive, beautiful skin.

Would you like me to get you a pink purse for your birthday, Ms. Jersey? Now I understand what's going on. FunkMistress didn't switch teams for you. You ARE a woman! [Edited 7/7/08 15:22pm]

My dermatologist told me to use Dove. I think it's too drying for my skin so he then told me Neutrogena products would be best. Ultimately, a prescription for topical cream & acne pills are what cleared my skin. To keep it clear, I have to switch up my facial cleaners for the seasons. I use Vitamin E during the fall & winter months, Vitamin C during spring & summer and the tea tree oil when it gets really sticky outside.
I sit next to a girl at work that uses Coast bar soap on her face. Shake it til ya make it

The "men" (just like you) gathers here because they like a man who wears stilletos and make-up. What did you expect? Men should be washing their visages with Lava soap and nothing else. Maybe wetted ashes, fat, and lye. Maybe.

I got a ton of lemons! been wondering what to do with them all what do I do? just rub it on and rinse it off? citrus is terrible for your skin!!!! really, don't believe whatever site you went to. citrus will dry your skin. then, you're skin will start to produce more oil to make up for the dryness. you'll end up with even more breakouts because your skin will be producing and secreting more oil. for acne on the face you need to use oil free cleansers and lotions. stay away from anything that has any kind of alcohol or oil as a first ingredient as one will dry your skin and the other will clog it. acne on other parts of the body can be cleared up fairly easily with a milk based soap (the enzymes in milk help to eat away dead skin which is often a culprit in clogging pores), soap that isn't heavy with mineral oil or alcohol, and using a god quality body lotion. sadly, a lot of good product is expensive. it sucks, but its true. cut out some spending in other areas and use that money for decent skin care products. An individualist is a man who lives for his own sake and by his own mind; he neither sacrifices himself to others nor sacrifices others to himself...

I never knew this before either. Dermalogica makes a precleanse that is oil based and it's great to use as a first cleanse, and then follow with the anti-bac products for acne. I guess it depends with each product...

so we obviously know now that:
you should probably just look into what's good for YOU. see a professional and try to find a balance that works for YOU. not everything you see or read on the internet will work for YOU. what may be true for one half will not be true for the other half. YOU. so while some may think they're right and think of others wrong, just know it may work for you but not always for them. internet sites, word of mouth, school or not. GO SEE A PROFESSIONAL! I always thought if you keep scrubbing off your oil, your skin just overcompensates by making MORE oil - is that right? I have combination skin, oily T-zone and break out at ovulation and menstruation, I have one good skin week exactly 7 days after my period ends, and then it all starts again

I have combination skin, oily T-zone and break out at ovulation and menstruation, I have one good skin week exactly 7 days after my period ends, and then it all starts again Not necessarily. When your skin is dry it makes more oil. So if you use a good moisturizer for oily skin to keep it hydrated your skin shouldn't produce more oil. Some people think that if they have oily skin they shouldn't moisturize, which isn't true. Again I just learned all this and used to have your same exact thoughts. Dermalogica makes a moisturizer called active moist and it's for oily skin, it's great for everyday use. They also have a medi-bac line for acne prone skin. I just did a 90 minute facial for a girl who has what seems to be your same exact symptoms. I used special cleansing gel, daily micro exfoliant, a medi-bac mask and overnight clearing gel for the areas where she had congestion. Then I toned with soothing protection and moisturized with active moist. Her skin really smoothed out and I think with using the correct products she can get a handle on it. Again, I'm NO professional but I'm learning to be one If you have breakouts I HIGHLY suggest the overnight clearing gel. I had a whopper of a zit on my chin and it was gone the next day.

To go back to the other post, I thought you were implying that if you removed the oil from your skin it would just produce more...when the main thing is to just keep it hydrated. We don't have any samples left right now but if we get some I'll let you know and I'll mail them to you!
