You should never use soap on your face, but I guess if you do then you're using the gentlest one. And Ponds??? barf

Try dermalogica, it's expensive but sooo worth it. Even if you don't have skin problems because it's more preventative than corrective....and women get the shaft (again) with their skin during and after menopause.

my skin has been crap all my life, could it really be improved by something like this? I look at your skin and think it's totally perfect and probably would be even if you DIDN'T use expensive skin care products
sigh

bawl

What do you mean by 'crap'? You should go to an esthetician and see what they say. I really do love dermalogica...perhaps find a spa that uses their products and have them face map you. I've always had dry skin and often get eczema on my eyelids. I've been using their daily microfoliant twice a day and it's getting so much better. I've noticed my skin is firmer and supple. I like that word..."supple".

Just my opinion....whatever works I say! Except for soap. Too many drying agents for the face.

I have super clean skin - no problems at all - have had it that way all my life using soap and water. I see no point in changing to anything else now.

And ponds works great for me. I don't need corrective stuff, and other than spf, I don't believe that the crap that most people slather on their faces prevents a single thing when it comes to aging and/or changes in your body chemistry.

I don't even wash my face at night before bed. lol

I don't wash at night, either - unless I've done a show and have stage make-up on. In the winter, especially, it's just too drying.

The whole "don't use soap on your face" thing is nonsense. I've had dermatologists actually tell me to use soap.

That said, I like this...

Technically, it's an acne cleanser, but I like it anyway. The last time I bought it, the woman at the Kiehl's counter at Nordstrom said, "You don't look like you have acne." I said, "I know. That's because I use this." confuse lol

I use mostly Aveda products. I really love them, especially the products for sensitive skin.

Most soaps have alkaline in them...not all but a high percentage. Which is why they say do not use soap on your face. It's not all bs.

Ummm...I hate to split hairs...but soaps do not "have alkaline in them." Alkaline is a state of being, not an ingredient.

Ingrediants in my soap.

Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Palmitate, Lauric Acid, Sodium Isethionate, Water, Sodium Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Maltol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)

I dunno what any of that means but it works well! woot!

Dove soap is one of the better.

Look I'm not trying to be all smarty pants on skin care. I'm currently in school for it and one of the first things we learned is how alkaline in soap can be caustic to skin. Dove *WAS* mentioned as not being as harsh as others and I think I did mention that.

Just my two cents, take it or leave it!

I honestly have no idea what's in anything and when I read a list like this I haven't a clue what it all means. lol

lol

You guys are talking about the same thing, but Genesia is just being kind of uptight and specific. giggle

There's alkali, which may make the soap more alkaline (as opposed to acidic). It's like saying there's "sugary" in your soda, or your grandmother was from "Irish." But Carrie's not the only one who says it that way, Genesia, it's not that big a deal! nana

I just never even think of these things at all and I know that I do so many things to my skin that they say you shouldn't - like not washing my face at night. But I'm guessing that I have super skin or something so I get away with everything.

I'm just really luck I guess, great genes....now if I had only also inherited a mega fast metabolism as well. confused

I don't always wash my face at night either, especially if it's been a good night wink I find if I do it twice a day it's too drying. Some need to...also it's recommended to DOUBLE cleanse each time. I find it to be too much, some skin can take it some can't.

Really?? What's the purpose of doing that? Wouldn't cleaning it the first time around be enough?

It's like when they say to shampoo your hair 2x then condition...I'm like...what for?

I have been using an eyecream by Clinique batting eyes I noticed a difference in the colour and texture of my undereye area as well as the lid and I have far less "baggage" now

I had to FORCE myself to invest the $ in face care products lol Which I just did recently. The eye cream was worth it but the 230$ worth of other stuff- well I am not overly impressed 3 months later lol

The first cleanse is supposed to remove the environmental 'stress' on the surface layer as well as makeup. Second cleanse supposedly gets deeper into the dermis to remove dirt and debris that causes commodones aka black heads. When we practiced facials on each other (that's not code btw) I noticed it was too much on my skin and would only do one cleanse.

I do highly recommend a good toner and exfoliant. I put my face in the woods lamp before using these products and it was soooo gross. Now you can only see a little bit of pigmentation from sun damage.
