why California

Listening to NPR yesterday three natural disaster stories were reported; fires, extreme heat, and droughts. With global warming it is only going to get MUCH worse. The prices of homes and gas seem to be above the national average. EARTHQUAKES all the time throughout the state.

I know it is beautiful and the coast line is amazing... but why the fuck do people want to live there...

When people ask me about Cali and the earthquakes, I always have to remind them that Cali doesn't have an earthquake season. Other places have tornado seasons and hurricane seasons. Everywhere has fires, drought and heat. For the most part our earthquakes are minor and don't cause much damage or death...Most of the time.

yeah, not to downplay the risk of fires such, but I've lived in CA for 36 years and never lost a home to fire, never been hurt in an earthquake, managed to afford to live here (barely).

There's more risk driving down the street or eating fast food.

Born and raised here. I'm not stuck on the location but I a spoiled to the weather and it will be a challenge to adjust to it nearly anywhere else.

I have lived all over North America.. and love all 4 seasons. The most extreme weather I have experianced are blizzards and ice storms. But I can stay inside and burn a nice fire. However, wild fires, tornados, and earth quakes scare the shit outa me...

I must be going through a survivalist phase...

anyone have a map to montana
