Congrats to Spain! I was hoping they would make it to the final. I was kind of hoping for it to be Portugal vs. Spain but nonetheless it was a good tournament.

My comment has nothing to do with the game itself - but it's just to say that I'm rather relieved that Spain won: we really don't need any more extremist/xenophobic nationalism here [in Moscow].

It is the truth.....they play a God-awful game! And they will win the cup with it.....and they're just unsympathetic ---> I in no way hold a grudge against the Germans, I've lived there many years and many of my good friends are Germans.....but their soccer teams are always full of assholes! Schweinsteiger, Frings, Ballack.....all decent players, but they play an awful game, and they're just assholes!

I would love to see Spain win, they deserve it way more! nod

Sorry, but I just don't see how you can make such a judgement (those players being assholes). Because of the way they celebrate their goals? neutral
And the German football has improved tremendously in recent years. Believe me, I was seldom so angry in my life than for most of the game against Turkey, but all this talk about deserving or not deserving to win is pointless. The point of this game is to score goals. Teams don't play "attractively" for the sake of playing "attractively" but because it's (mostly) the way to win.

I guess whoever wins on Sunday deserved to win. Unless of course it's because of a mistake by the referee but I don't remember any particular referee decisions in favor of Germany recently.

That's the point.. yes.. but I have to agree with Abierman .. Ballack is not a very sporty player.. he plays more theater than the ball..

As the great football connoisseur that I am, it was easy to see that Spain had the potential to become champions, just take a look at the players: Casillas, Puyol, Ramos, Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Cesc, Villa, Torres, that's some serious stuff...Also, relatively unknown players as Senna, Silva or Marchena had been fantastic...

The final was fantastic, Spain's counterattacks were awesome and Germany sucked balls, pure and simple. Overall, the best Eurocup I've seen since the 1996 edition.

Holland was my other favourite team but somehow they just screwed it up against Russia neutral

Congratulations Spain! biggrin

It was a good game for Spain - who seemed to run circles round Germany more and more as the game went on

If they play like today on Sunday, and Germany plays as uninspired as last night, Spain will have a good chance to become champion!

Wow, you totally called it! I've never seen the Germans play such a lackadaisical(?) game... This is a case of the better team winning and I think the Spaniards earned it. They out-played the Germans, no doubt about it...

The "run circles around them" comment is SO TRUE! Every time the Germans got the ball it seemed that two Spaniards would show up to take the ball away from them... I was pretty impressed...

It felt like the Germans, as the game ticked away moment by moment, became more and more dumbfounded. Then they took to hacking at players more so then playing the ball. And Spain was running circles round them in the meantime

Was an interesting game to watch

They played very weak. In the first ten minutes they were good and strong. I really thought the Spaniards could pack their bags very soon. But then Spain became very active and they did't loose the ball anymore. Germany did though, very often and totally unnecessary.
Spain made nice actions towards the goal and not much foul play. I was very pleased. Many good chances to make more goals but hey, only one was needed to win!

I was getting pretty annoyed in the second half by the dirty faces and the foul play. That Podolski guy, Schweinsteiger and Ballack disbelief
I know it was because nothing positive for them happened but still. And our Dutch reporter sucked imo. When a German fell on the ground he blamed a Spaniard while in replay you could see the German hadn't been touched at all. And the other way around. When a Spaniard fell he said nothing happened and in replay you saw a nasty mean offence.

But it's ok. Spain won woot!

Well, sometimes foul play just shows how much better the other team is because each time the German came too late for the ball. Spain were just much faster in everything last night. Don't recall Podolski doing anything particularly bad. But no matter how deserved the Spanish victory was, you need to acknowledge that a Spanish player did head-butt Podolski. Had to be a red card.
