Smokers Whistle

There is the this sweetest older lady where I work that just annoys the hell out of me when I hear her talk. Don't get me wrong, she is so nice, but her throat whistles when she talks from smoking so much. I guess her airway is so restricted from years of smoking she just whistles when she talks.

It sounds totally nasty and it makes me feel like my throat is closing up. When I hear her talk it feels like I have asthma...and I definitely don't.

And when she has to walk to our other building (only about 50 yards away at most) I think she is going to die. Gasping for air and she doesn't look well after that short walk.

Does anyone else work with/know someone like this?

That poor lady needs to be on one of those oxygen tanks, if she's having that much trouble breathing, poor thing. There is an older lady who goes to my church who has one of those oxygen tanks, and it doesn't seem to be too noticeable. It would be a pain to have to drag it everywhere, I'm sure, but at least it helps the afflicted person to breath normally.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Good point. I don't know why she doesn't use one, but then again I'm not a Doctor.

lol This is true. Not sure if she would be able to not smoke while she was on the oxygen tank. Maybe that's why she doesn't have one to begin with. Never thought of that before.

If cigarettes were a new product today, there is no way they'd ever be legalized.

one of my friends smokes way too many cigarettes and a year or two ago he was mugged by some scumbag and they knocked him out cold with an iron bar or something hard to the head.

Anyway the ambulance comes to take to him to the hospital and when he arrives they get all the tubes etc they need to make sure his fine and when they go to put on down his throat they had extreme trouble getting it down there because there was a massive build up of crap from smoking in there and they had to scrap a lot of it out so they could get the tubes down!.....The sad thing is his only 21! eek

And no matter how many times he says his "quitting" I just cant believe him anymore because its like the boy who cried wolf, his said it THAT many times I has lost all meaning sad I would really love to see him stop smoking but theres only so much you can tell him. As I found out when I stopped smoking weed it has to be your own decision and you have to be ready, which he clearly isn't
