About your friend story, I dont blame them for shutting that ride down( I mean the bolts were coming out of it!) Either way IMHO they should have safety checks everyday at the begining of the park opening and the closing of the parks. To ensure safety to all

Geez! People, this kid's parents are NOT suing. There was another incident (as pointed out above) where the girl got her feet ripped off by a faulty ride. Those parents sued the park.

I know some people in the US are lawsuit happy, but this is NOT the case this time.

in the 3 summers i worked at a theme park things like this happened once a year. One year a girl stood up on a roller coaster and fell out at top speed and died.

yeah, I wasn't that stupid as a teen either...sad...feel sorry for the parents. It's not like the kid was trying to cause trouble....just trying to get his hat...could have been expensive.

It's weird. Something like this happened in Santa Clara, Ca (next town up from where I live) at Great America a while ago. The person hopped the fence for the same exact reason. It was the TOP GUN ride.
