Denzel's walk (or should I say strut) alone puts him into the Thug category. He walks like a man with a plan. If there is a such thing as purposeful walking - he does it. He walks as if he owns the world, but he does not act as if he owns the world.
I think I'd need to point out to Sean Connery his Thug Qualities so that he would understand and not be offended. I guess maybe I should say that he has Thug Essence.  | |

: AMEN! You're absolutely right. He speaks volumes without having to necessarily use many "words". I've seen just about all of Denzel's movies and I think my absolute favorite is "Glory". He definitely showed his Thug side in that movie, but it was also beautiful how he evolved into a better understanding what it really means to be a MAN. My favorite scene is the night before they go to battle to take the fort and the men are giving their prayers and testimonies...it makes me cry buckets of tears everytime! Nah. . .Nah. You can't just come out and tell a man with Thug Essence that you recognize his essence. You have to sidle up and tell him that he has an essence and of course he will ask what kind of essence you are feeling. Then you can smile, coyly, and tell him that he has Thug Essence. Thug Essence is quiet and undercover.

Gigi - I have never seen Glory because I wasn't ready to cry, but now I guess I'll have to check it out just to see the prayer. I can't believe you haven't seen GLORY! I believe Denzel got his first Oscar from this movie (best supporting actor). The whole movie is full of very symbolic scenes. Morgan Freeman (another wonderful actor) is also very good in it.
