We all get judged on what we say and do whether we like it or not. We say we answer to ourselves, but in society there is a quite clearly determined overall quality level of how we behave and no self-affirmation or stubborness can have any worthwhile bearing on it. Sometimes we're just cunts even if we think otherwise, if everybody is saying so (then it's rarely groundless). If you're thinking in terms of our everyday reality of interacting with others and being social creatures then there are good people and bad people and which are which soon becomes evident (or pointed out). Pride is superfluous but opening your eyes to how you're perceived and treated is precious. It's all in there. Much depends on how much weight you give peoples' perception of you on that conventional, everyday level. If you want to play it works to be nice. MF didn't want to and he got spat out. It's possible he doesn't care, but I've seen many a 'reformed' orger change their ways after realising it really was worth playing along for. To each their own.

I'm a 'very nice person' in that conventional regard, but not so always in my heart. In my soul I have no superior.
