a girl i know just found out she's 6 months pregnant! Unbelievable....
She went for an ultrasound for her back regarding an old injury she'd had, and the Dr. asked her when the baby was due. She'd had no idea she was even pregnant! She's a bigger girl, so wasn't showing. Her period never stopped or lessened any, and she had no symptoms like morning sickness, swollen ankles, strange cravings, or anything! Poor girl. A surprise pregnancy would be stressful and upsetting enough, but to find out you'll be a mother in less than 3 months? She said when she found out that day at the doctor, she just went home and cried all day. [Edited 5/25/08 12:08pm] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I knew a girl that did not know she was pregnant until she went into labour in her mom's bathroom. She was 21 and went back to home to live because her and her boyfriend split up. Her mom was a neonatal nurse, she was small framed. Had her period the whole time and no sickness.
No one had a clue, not even her. SCARY!

I know! How is that possible?? Ya, I'm curious to know how this works or if these girls just say they had it as just another way to excuse their not knowing.

The girl that I knew and worked close with everyday did seem to have her period and have her normal cramps. Her mom was wonderful, caring and a neonatal nurse. She would have had lots of support if she did know ahead of time. She never looked pregnant to any of us and had no real reason to lie.

! don't encourage him!! this IS really weird though. i've never even heard of it being possible to get your period and still be pregnant. i mean, how do you not feel the kid moving around, etc, even if it is small?

No! She wasn't showing at all, being big to start with, and she never felt a kick or anything. So far it looks like everything's healthy and working out fine, but she's really concerned about the child's health because, not knowing she was pregnant, she'd been out drinking a few times. She feels horrible about that because she's not the sort of person who'd go on drinking or smoking if she knew she was pregnant. I guess it can't be helped now, but who knows what's going to happen to the baby? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

No one had a clue, not even her. SCARY! That would terrify me. Luckily I'm thin and small-framed so my size couldn't hide a baby, but still. Scary! "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Apparently it's starting to become more common, especially among younger mothers in their teens or early twenties. Some doctors say it relates back to all the hormones in our food. Well if your having sex, it is always a possibility. She doesn't have much time to plan. I have heard of women dropping full term babies that never knew they were Pregnant!

I have too. Like I said, it'd be upsetting enough to find out 2 or so months in that there was going to be an arrival you didn't plan on, but this close to the due date would give so much less time to prepare emotionally and physically for being a parent, on top of the stressor of klnowing your life is about to change completely. when my mum was pregnant with me she had her periods, she was still on the pill so when she started throwing up every night after dinner, she never EVER suspected it was because of me!
