Well, once my mum got my granny to sing purple rain to me at the mall, just to make me happy. She was 80 then.

All of my grandparents have passed. I doubt they ever listened to Prince.

My dad probably would though if I sent him some bluesy rock stuff.

He is stoked about seeing ZZ Top with my brother this weekend.
He is diverse in his music. He loves R&B and the Blues.

My mom is not a fan even though she bought me Controversy for Christmas when I was 12 yrs old. This is all her fault!

My grandmother is 91. I think it's safe to say she's never heard of Prince. lol

As a matter of fact, they do. nod My Grandfather, being a Jazz musician, has respect for the man. He once said, "that Purple Rain song is fairly good". My late step-Grandfather always dug his music and my Grandmother always knew that I was nuts about the man. "That bwoi loves his Prince", she said. She knew that when Prince was on TV, you couldn't divert my attention for anything. lol That's the cool thing though, my folks have great respect for Black people that are successful at what they do and that made an impact on our culture and history. And we're on a website of one of them. wink

Well, my mother's mother hated him, but then she died....so I guess Sharon Stone would call that karma...or at least ask herself it was karma.

You would think the Divine Power of all the universe would already know the answer and have the wisdom to choose the correct forum.

Then again, perhaps there is no power behind alter accounts.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

That's totally cool. My grandparents are all dead now, but I doubt that any of them had heard of Prince when they were still alive. If they did, they probably thought it was something about Prince Charles or the Royal Family in England. giggle
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

No. But being the baby of the family, my pop is old as Methuselem and therefore actually old enough to be my grandfather eek...and no he doesn't like Prince. He thinks he's a hack and has been saying so since I was 14 hmph!. I believe the words "press perm redbone midget that stole from Little Richard" used to frequently pepper our conversations when I was a young teenager growing up during the Purple Rain era lol lol lol

OH HECK NO. Old-school COGIC. She tried to ruin my "Prince" cassette way back in the day. Luckily, she was clueless on what destroys cassettes so it didn't work and I got it back and was much more careful where I hid it. smile
