I think she was either drunk or on something when she was asked that.

This is not the first time she's said something completely ridiculous.

I can't see the vid right now, but it don't take much to know whats being said. I was so hoping folks would refrain from saying such things, well, at least it wasn't one of "my peeps", cause they kind of have a tendency to spout off at the mouth sometimes to proven some point. This country has had to learn from it's mistakes too, that's why we have all these laws in place today, not because we are so "righteous".

Brainless idiot. The Ngawa prefecture of Sichuan suffered 20,000 deaths (so far - 10,000 still missing). It's population is over 50% ethnic Tibetans. Karma my arse!

So? She's buddhist, the Dalai Lama is one of her close friends and she doesn't like chinese people...why are you all so shocked?

What do you think Richard Gere would say about this?

I'd hope he wouldn't confuse a country's politics with it's people.

Interesting, I didn't hear it that way at all. Sounded like she was struggling with how to feel about a number of things and asked the question "is that karma?" in regards to the earthquake. Then seeing how the mistreated people still wanted to help out the people mistreating them it taught her a lesson. But that's just me smile

No, you're not the only one; I've heard that too and that's why my reaction hasn't been like "wow, she's a bitch" , "she's stupid/ridiculous " or other pearls rolleyes

nod

not sure why folks are jumping at the chance to diss her...here is the full statement:

Well, you know, it was very interesting, because at first I am not happy about the way Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anybody should be unkind to anybody else... Then I've been concerned about how should we deal with the Olympics because they're not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who's a good friend of mine. And then all this earthquake, and all this stuff happened, I thought, is that karma? When you are not nice, the bad things happen to you. And then I got a letter from the Tibetan foundation that they wanted to go and be helpful, and that made me cry... That was a big lesson to me."

B-list? You're being kind. Someone famous for opening and closing her legs in a movie giving her opinions on politics - I love it!

Too bad the Komodo dragon didn't finish her off.
