I've been running because it's the cheapest and easiest to fit into my schedule. I love doing yoga and miss it terribly and I also used to do ballet but that was years ago. I miss dancing but I feel like I'm too old and fat to start up again.

In anycase, I've lost 5 pounds since January and would like to loose 5-10 more.

You're never too old or fat to dance! biggrin

I love running though. I get addicted to it actually. I can't do it without my iPod though. I can't stand the sound of my own breathing. lol

really? even for ballet?

they have this set up at the gym where you can plug your headphones into this console and watch TV...I ususally do that because I get pretty bored and distracted for the first 15 min.

I'm off sugar. I feel pretty crappy right now (the first couple weeks are the toughest), but by the first of June, I'll feel a lot better!

Well if you're going to be performing, that's a different story altogether. lol But if you just do it for fun or because you like it, then you don't have to be ballerina thin. biggrin

I totally need music to run. I generally always run outside when I can though because I hate treadmills.

You all can be so inspiring. Last year I lost 35 lbs. For years I've been making changes to my diet, not anything very unique just the basic stuff. No sodas, no sugary drinks, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, less meat more fish. It's been a balancing act since I'm finding that a lot of things that are suppose to be very healthy don't agree with me and make me very ill. Sugar is a big problem, I have a sweet tooth and my body can't tolerate artificial sweetners, it's an obstacle I'm having trouble getting over, taking vitamins seems to help some. This year I haven't done squat exercise wise which is my biggest mistake. I've just maintain my positive eating habits and last year's weight loss, which has been a struggle in itself, but I'm getting back to it cause I've got a ways to go and I'm getting too old for this.

I have to start running more again.

I lifted weights twice this week so far, and I get a little exercise playing music, but it's not enough.

You have to take days off, give your joints & muscles time to regroup.

falloff tiny running shorts!

I agree w/threadbare, take days off in between. Also, have a smooth rolling stride, don't bounce too much. When I started jogging, I was used to sprinting like when I played basketball, so I was on my toes, ready to jump, but that's too high impact for jogging. Roll along, heel toe, real smooth.

Thanks again. Since after finishing the medication I literaly cant stand the smell of smoke (my mother still smokes) and I cant stay 5 min inside her home without getting sick still. So IMHO it really did the trick and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to quit as well nod

I was doing heel toe, but I felt like I was hitting the pavemnt to hard so then I was just running on my toes, which feels like more work caue you have to keep more control.
I dunno Im not a professional but Ill try again.
I just want an eliptical.

Running on my toes was fine for a while, but it hurt my achilles heel eventually.

Running isn;t for everyone, but the more you do it, the easier it is. Your body will tell you the right way.

The best way I can describe it is rolling, you should barely leave the ground, you take small steps, and one heel should be hitting the ground right as the other toe leaves it. That way there's not much impact. But it's intense exercise, that's why it's also so addictive.
