Ex-Moderator | any ideas where I can find this? You guys may remember, I had this as my avatar for a while...
Retina found the picture for me. I discovered a week ago that this is an actual doll that was produced by a duo of artists under the name "tokyoplastic". It was run in a limited edition or something. I've decided I need to have this doll. Any ideas where to look? I looked a bit on ebay and only found the yellow one (as they have different editions of the doll) but, for obvious reasons, I need this one, as it's the only one with red hair. Any ideas? |

On the site that hosts the pics you got up, there are LOADS of desperate people trying to score one.
More info; i'm not sure what the official name is, but the dolls (red, black, white) are generally known as the tokyoplastic geisha. they were an extremely limited run that sold out years ago (c.2004-2005). they come up on ebay, but at a hefty price.

I actually saw a green one in a store called Toy Tokyo the other weekend when I was in New York. I didn't even know where the pic retina sent me came from before then. I didn't buy it cause she didn't have red hair. Now I kinda wish I had. I don't think I'll ever find her. |

Maybe... yeah, i guess it depends on if you want to own it as a collectible or if you like it for the personal connotation. i've heard of people who do customize toys, though - i'm sure there's a way to change the hair color that doesn't look all sloppy and crappy.

I cant help but that is cute as hell and is truly embodies you...I'm not sure if they haven't infringed on your appearance rights...a good lawsuit against the toy company for using your image may get you a free one...

good luck Carrie, they are a difficult item to come across, as Herman said, they sold out quickly.
I LURVE art/vinyl toys, and if I had more disposable income, I would have more. Here are some links to the red, yellow and octopus versions, white is pretty damn hard to find, my advice is KEEP checking ebay, or set up a want on ebay, and when one gets posted, ebay emails you to let you know. FYI, the manufacturer is "Flying Cat", Tokyoplastic teamed with them to create the vinyl art doll of their Geisha girl. Please don't paint them yourself, that would totally ruin it. http://www.toytokyo.com/s...ct_id/8450 http://www.toytokyo.com/s...ct_id/9140 http://www.toytokyo.com/s...ct_id/8330

I've never actually used ebay, I didn't know I could set up a wish list and get notification. That's neat!! I ordered the yellow one yesterday from Toy Tokyo. I really want both the red AND white one now, though. They will look sooooo cute in my kitchen (my kitchen is all white, black and red). |
