everyone email FunkMistress and tell her it is in her best interest to fly to California to get a Kyi-Leo puppy.

When I got home yesterday, I was told very solemnly that the children had something to tell me. I steeled myself for a broken window, an "F," something bad.

The news, carefully prepared before my arrival home?

I am on the verge of convincing my loverly wife that we need a puppy.

The hard part is picking the breed. We are equally drawn to all of the following:

Lhasa Apso

Shih Tzu

Maltese

or Kyi-Leo (a maltese/shih tzu cross, they are not an AKC recognized breed yet, but who gives a shit, the crossbreeding has not caused any health problems not already associated with the original breeds)

what do you say org? What should the JerseyMistress household adopt into our already huge family???

mushy awww... one of each nod

YOU'RE INHUMANE!!!!!

Well I have been around dogs all of my life. I have seen ppl that thought it was wrong to keep a dog in a crate until the dog is home alone and destroys the house.

Electrocution and hanging from the blind strings is in humane.

Teacher

Everybody knows I'll say this, but: Don't get the cross. It's like breaking a piƱata open, you never know what's inside and by that I mean you don't know what quality dogs they used to breed your puppy. A purebred puppy should have a pedigree and you should demand to look at it well beforehand, a serious breeder plans their litters a long time and the pedigree will tell you what degree of inbreeding there is (despite the fact that there are so very many dogs available of every possible breed there is almost always inbreeding to some extent), personally for me only 0% is acceptable but many "dog people" feel that 4,25% or less is ok. neutral
Jersey, what you REALLY should do before getting a dog is settle on a breed (Lhasa!!!!!) and then ask a breeder for some hair and skin scrapings from a dog. Then you take medical tape and tape it to your inner arm, and your daughter's, and leave it there for a couple days. It's a bit gross and not very scientific but it is the best chance you have of knowing beforehand whether your allergies will react to the breed. Shampoo and grooming also play parts, get the mutt to a groomer regularly and have them trim the dog down cos if you're not into dog shows (and we all know you aren't) then a shorter trim is much more manageable.

Good luck and get the mofo Lhasa! I agree with FunkMistress Erin on the look of the others. They're horrible, absolutely horrible.
