I suppose they fall under the umbrella. Producers and fact-checkers for TV news are usually the real journalists.
But it depends on the anchor, really. Some of them actually do seek out and file their own reports/stories. "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

No...
Print journalists are true journalists. TV talent are just glorified Ken & Barbie dolls. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

I have a degree in journalism and worked as a newspaper reporter for a few years and I've seen first hand what happens in a TV news studio - it's not the same whatsoever. Print reporters write the news and TV reporters read it.

Considering the stories they have to read, you have to wonder if it's gratifying for them. I think it would be one of those horrible life-crushing jobs to have to be perky and read "news" that is, for the most part, incredibly unimportant, like Miley Cyrus stories.

Print reporters write the news and TV reporters read it. I went to school for Journalism in Atlanta (GSU). There is a real animosity b/w the print people and TV talent. I worked on the univeristy paper for a semester and it was really fun, but there is no money in the profession. I wish I had pursued it sometimes, but I was too self conscious about being judged by the viewing public, but I would do it now if I were motivated. "Old man's gotta be the old man. NSFW-ish: a no-no word is said, but profuse apologies are offered soon after. That was last night and I watched that live when it happened. I was walking past my grandparents as they were watching Medium when the newsbreak for News 4 New York came on and then all of a sudden I hear "What the fuck are you doing?" come out of Sue Simmons, the anchor who said it. We all went . We have a DVR so we had to rewind that back. My grandfather thought it was Janice Huff, the weatherperson As you saw, Sue apologized but damnit if it wasn't funny! She's been there since I was a baby and she's one of the best anchors here in NYC but WOW! I guess she had a bad night! [Edited 5/13/08 8:20am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I wondered that right after it happened. It's in today's newspapers out here so it could happen. [Edited 5/13/08 9:17am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
