DIY gift buying

Cutting out the middle-man, and buying yourself things you really want! (NB. It is quite difficult to surprise yourself, however).

Yay or nay? lol

DIY Gift Buying - the spending of the lonely and unloved...

As to the difficulty of surprising yourself...

Simply buy yourself lots of nice things. Wrap them up and label them with your name (and a photo of yourself).

Then headbutt a few walls until you damage yourself so much, amnesia kicks in.

Then when you come across the gifts labelled with your name (and photo of yourself, just in case you don't remember your name), you'll be able to open them and be totally surprised by the contents. And also, you'll have Prince's entire back-catalogue to completely discover once more, as new, until your memory returns.
Don't forget to be disappointed with Rave for the second time.

Oh lol Yeah, my parents and just about all of my relatives have done that. No one ever wants to go and pick something out for me. Apparently, I'm hard to shop for confused I don't care though 'cause then I can get whatever I want deal

my folks and in-laws always do that too, but don't you think it takes away from the whole "specialness?"

hmmm I guess so, but I'm ok with it. lol The way that I see it is, if someone wants to get you a gift, it should be something that you're going to enjoy. I don't want someone to waste their money on something I know that I will not use.

I think that I'm just used to buying gifts for myself. neutral

oh hell yes. with my weirdass tastes, if i don't pick out what i want for myself, nobody else is going to think to get it for me (or have the nerve). i'd really just as soon have my loved ones buy me clean socks and underwear, and let me spend my own hard earned cash on the stuff i know i really want. i'm just too much of a fickle and obsessive pain in the butt to buy for.

I buy myself flowers every week. I buy a new bouquet for my kitchen table, each Friday. Makes me feel good to see fresh flowers on my kitchen table, and since my family never gives it a second thought. It is my weekly splurge just for me. cool

Would you have to specify "clean"?

Where would they buy DIRTY socks and underwear??

Yay! I once bought myself a pair of boots a month before Christmas and since I hadn't worn them yet, I gift-wrapped them and brought them to my family's holiday get together. I didn't open them there though. It seemed kinda tacky.
